I do like Siggy and his work rate was amazing again this weekend but he really needs to be contributing more for me in order to justify a starting place every week. Even though wr have a few wingers out, I think Siggy has to be scoring and creating alot more assists. Also against wet spam, his deliveries from corners were shit!

To me it looks like Sherwood is going with what he knows and trying to give certain players an opportunity, so I think the players that get selected must take it!

I don't understand all this hatred or disliking that he gets from us here.
A bit harsh, I think ... imo, he's been playing decently, especially mentioning his workmate in Timmy's formation of a lightweight central midfield.

The problem with Siggy is that just like Defoe, he is not very useful when he doesn't score. The fact that he was played so many times out of position on the wing didn't help either.

He's not a bad backup for playing on the left we could do worst. The out and out winger is a dying breed. Its good to have him on the right to tuck in when need to tighten up the midfield when playing against a 5. Wouldn't mind Eriksen out there and an out and out winger on the other side. Sort of like a wonky diamond.

Team selection must be a pain in the arse atm. TS must get a settled team asap.

I feel for Siggy. We bought him, then Holtby, then Eriksen and Lamela and Paulinho. For someone who is a specialist number 10, he went from our first choice in that area to potentially our fourth or fifth and having to scrap it out with Townsend and Lennon for a berth on the left. Ultimately, he has a howitzer in him and can be very valuable but the point was made earlier that he's not a busy player - he doesn't track back enough or create enough in tight spaces (a comment you can aim at most of our forward players).

The irritating thing is that if he gets a foot or two of space twice a game - he's a different player because he has that power in his boot.

how many times has Siggy played behind ade in his spurs career? I know he is no VDV but if he played off ade, do you reckon he would be much more influential?

No. He had all of August in the No 10 slot and he didn't score or create once. Granted, the team as a whole wasn't exactly slicing teams asunder, but a No 10 for a club with our ambitions has got to have more impact than that. Was delighted to see us pursue Eriksen after seeing a few of the games in August.

Playing as #10 in Andre's August side?

Is that not like having free entry to Spurs matches in June?
:avbfacepalm:

I'm pretty sure ade wasn't in the side then

A decent No 10 isn't reliant on the abilities of any one striker ahead of him. I think it's valid if compared stats are close, but when he does nothing from a creator's position, the individual quality of the finisher cannot be seen as the missing piece.

I didn't mean that he would set up ade more but was asking if ade would set up Siggy more and give him the space to unleash a lethal shot or incisive pass. I believe he has it in him to find crucial passes, seen vs Woolwich last season, but he struggles with finding space due to his lack of speed and fails to shrug off challenges.
