As I said, it is very easy to name drop THE ENTIRE WORLD without actually naming a player. It's a cop out.

Especially since you're saying it could be the difference between CL qualification. Name that player, don't just have a pop by saying there MUST be one. Suggest one.

Suggest one to be that difference you so feverishly want. One that is better than Son.
That's what I have been saying.
We definitely ain't going to tie a 28 yr old down to a long contract on decent wages because we need cover for Kane.
Anyway, covering Kane is more than finding player who hugs the halfway line, is the outlet for long balls from the back, holds it before knocking it out wide and getting into the box.
Kane is much more than that.
Some are desperate for any signing despite not knowing anything about most of them. It's like a competition.
Like having the latest pair of trainers or iPhone when, in reality, the ones you have are perfectly fine.

Especially when you're not flushed with money like the spoilt kid and have to pay your own way.

If you say so. But l can tell the difference between butt hurt and intelligence. You win mate. I'm not interested.
Ok to be honest if "you're not interested" please refrain from quoting my posts in the future and directing things my way (and i will do the same). Holding grudges/clinging on to things and then letting them out in other threads just spoil the threads and this site in general.

Get out of here with Benteke. And fuck quoting Poch's non comments. Don't say "who the fuck knows" and then go on to say that you know. You're right - it would be ludicrous to sign some cover in the position we're in.

My point was that any statement in absolute terms are way off base, because we don't know what Poch sees on the training ground. I did NOT say that I know shit. I'm just saying that I would lean towards believing Poch when he speaks. That said, I do agree with you that they're to a certain extent non-quotes because he might just be playing a mental game.

As someone else touched upon, we've been signing too many players for a lot of years. Not necessarily having to sign anyone is a position of strength. Yes, you need 1, 2, maybe 3 signings a year to freshen things up and keep moving forward, but stability in the squad is the most important factor. So I just don't buy into the position that we absolutely, categorically have to sign a striker and anything else is gambling with our entire season. To reverse your sarcasm, I don't think it's necessarily ludicrous to not sign anyone this window. That doesn't mean I'm part of an Enic propaganda machine. I want us to sign a striker as well. I just happen to believe that Poch wants to as well and Levy will back him if it's reasonable value for money, but likewise that Poch knows enough from the training ground and the club's scouting, to know which players available will actually make the cover for Kane better than the attacking mids/strikers we have now.

From Sky Sports:

BERAHINO LATEST

West Bromwich Albion would be prepared to let Saido Berahino's contract expire in 18 months time, rather than sell him at a discount, Sky Sources have revealed.

Albion rejected three bids from Tottenham at the end of the summer transfer window, the highest of which was believed to be worth around £22m. There have been no offers for him so far in January, but we understand there is interest from Spurs again, Newcastle and Stoke.

SSNHQ reporter Rob Dorsett understands Berahino's still keen on a move to the Capital, rather than heading North, even though Sky Sources have made it clear the former England U21 striker remains Steve McClaren's number one target.

Albion Chairman Jeremy Peace is adamant he won't sell the 22-year-old until a club meets his valuation - a figure he is keeping secret. Berahino turns 24 in August next year, and West Bromwich officials have told me they expect to get more than £10m in compensation were his contract to expire in 2017, and the matter go to tribunal.

I think Levy has caused Jeremy Peace to have a mental breakdown...:levywtf:

They'd rather get £10m in compensation (which is debatable they'll even get) for letting a players contract run down, who doesn't want to be there and hardly plays, instead of selling him now for about £18m? :avbcringe:

I especially liked the sense in having a "secret valuation"

Exactly my thoughts; they can't.

No one seems capable of providing a good argument, other than "Son isn't a striker, there must be one in the world".

I'm in the camp of 'we need a back-up striker and I trust Mitchell and our manager if they go for Dembele as I don't know a hell of a lot about him'. Regarding Son, whenever I've seen him up top he hasn't convinced me.

That ok?

You've not improved your social skills have you? If you hate the forum so much, why come back?

Anyway I'm going to try to rip you to pieces at the earliest opportunity. Stupid cunt.

Wouldn't bother, you're on ignore from now. The irony of your own statement is quite amazing.

You take life too serious, Joseph.

It's not a cop out it's just that I'm paid to do what I do for a living and, like many others, I am busy and need time for my family, home improvements and hobbies including football - why am I supposed to do the job of professional, well paid scouts who's job it is to find one? And, if our signing criteria is so specialist and precise then that makes it an even more ridiculous demand of me compared to them! It's your cop out not mine, there IS a player out there.

Like I said, nobody saw Son coming so I would hope the same will be true about the signing we unveil this weekend.

I'm all for patience and being happy with how things are going but, 'the future' and 'longer term' can be as much as a cop out as a sound strategy. Don't forget about the now, given the league this year and our current squad, right now could be the future! Step change our club BEFORE the stadium move, get further ahead of Utd and Chelski before they over-invest to come again (which they will) - it may even be our manager they come for!

5pts away, topsy turvy league, ahead of Chelski, Utd, Scousers, only lost by an odd goal in games we shouldn't have lost, good squad with cover in most places but very short in a crucial one.......go for it for fuck sake, the same chance might not come around again as soon as you think.

:levywhoa:
"Finally... a worthy opponent! So... £3m and Fazio?"

Probably something along those lines, to be honest!
Thinking about it, I'd probably pay good money to watch those two negotiate...

I'm fucking mortified. You're a much hated bloke. And Joseph? La la la la la la. I'm not interested in what you've got to say JCeeeee. You're a mug who fucked off from here when we got 5th. And now you've come snuffling around, when we're in the mix. Your opinions are fucking worthless mate. Stick to bigging up City.

Not really. You're not exactly popular. And while that doesn't matter, you're a dimwit who has never made a point on here that anyone has taken seriously.
