It wasn't just that though.
Everyone forgets Robertson and Trent Alexander Arnold, who have both turned into (arguably) the best full backs in Europe. Bought for peanuts.
They spotted young talent *and* compounded it with experience. We should have done that in 2016/17.
We bought Vic off Soton.
Becomes active in Summer of 2021. Basically allows Dortmund to have him 18months and make a profit of £50m not bad for them but must have been instigated by Raiola. Top cunt that bloke.
But he is not a DM so what exactly is the point?Southampton have been trying to get him to extend his contract, but no progress so far.
Southampton have just sold their other contract rebel, Cedric Soares to Woolwich, up the position for KWP
So I think this might have legs. Decent midfield player and only 24 still.
You said the same thing two different ways. Like, there are other reasons why players may not be coming in is my point.Well that and the fact that it's the club that are concerned about fees and wages.
He has played as a DM and certainly defending is the stronger part of his midfield game ... agents always do the deal first, maybe Southampton don't want him running down his contract ... they always need money so who knows ...
The Willian Jose situation is weird because he's 28. That's not ideal, but he's not Giroud (33). We can probably get him for relatively low wages (he's on £47,500/wk now) for 4.5 years (his current contract is through June 2024) and it really wouldn't be an huge concern.
We are £9m apart - bump it up to £16.8m (€20m), give him a bump to £60k/wk. That's £30m total between transfer and wages. If we actually rotate Kane and use him it will be worth it.
