I’d like to see one more. Dier, Toby, Rodon and one extra. Davies and Tanganga ok as cover but that’s it.

Wonder who we could sell Sanchez to for £25m...

I mentioned Rodon because he's currently not a fully fledged squad member due to HG.

Wish we could upgrade Berg and Lucas into a single quality RW - neither are good enough while the former was Jose 4th choice Levy bargain bin special. When would we learn...

The thing is, Bargain bin doesn't have to be total crap (which Bergwijn isn't). Jarrod Bowen is pretty decent, works hard, scores at a reasonable rate. He likes to carry the ball forward, rather than receive it, like Son does, which makes him a good complement for Son/Kane.

Eze is less proven , but is similar. Both also solve our homegrown crisis.

Neto is just 20 years old and like Bowen he likes the ball to feet and can retain possession of the ball high up the pitch and just wear defences down for 90 mins. Again a good partner for Son/Kane.

Instead we got Bergwijn, who needs to learn, to adapt, to lose weight, can't score and for more money than any of these players.

We should also look at Silas Wamangituka. Apparently can play across the front 3.

Atm we need Lucas for Vinicius. They are both speaking Portuguese which is a huge deal for Vinicius (he does not speak English at all). Otherwise he could not really connect with other ppl/players except Mourinho.
Not advocating we sell Lucas (though he could use more output!), and they're clearly close & get on, but there's also Dier who speaks Portuguese. He also talks about how this helps him connect with all of the South Americans (Lamela, Gazzaniga too)...

This is my thinking too. Would it be possible to pry Bailey from top of the table Leverkusen in January? Probably not.

If it was, how do achieve it? IMO, Sanchez (+25m), Lamela(+5m), Moura (+25m), Gazza(5m). 4 non-hg slots open up. Sell Winks (+ 25m), buy HG third choice GK(3/4m). Bailey (-35m), Sabitzer(-35m). We might even come out ahead.

Would have to be done over the jan + summer windows combined.
Oh January is probably too much to ask for. But He should be a priority in the summer.

unfortunately, the title race (such as it is) is now, we have to strike while the iron is hot, but yeah, it would take a levy master class to get anything.

We should of gone for Eze, especially as we held a long term interest. What does Lamela do that someone like he doesn’t for example.

Again, he’s had a few good games. This thread was full of “we should have signed Watkins” after he scored a few in one match. He’s been pish since then.

No reason to believe Eze would have even got near the pitch for us, let alone performed.

No he hasn't. He's been pretty solid even in games where he didn't score. Especially the West Ham game.

Generally good hold up play, passing and shooting. Just bottled the pen, and given bullshit offsides.

As for Eze, he isn't the final product, but him or Bowen would have been a far better choice than keeping Lucas.

He should have gone in the summer. It's so frustrating how we can't seem to shift him, Lamela, Sanchez, Sissoko after all these years.

Didn’t we sign that Welsh fella to rotate wings with Son? Name escapes me. Weird haircut. Likes golf.

Brian Huggett?

We’ll have to agree to differ. I’m not watching every minute, but he’s not looked great to me. Appears more symptomatic of “so and so has had a few gold matches so we should have signed him”. We are always looking for that non obvious signing, almost the hispsters choice.

As for shifting Lucas and the others you mentioned, I’m not sure we’ve been trying to shift any of them. So that’s probably why it hasn’t happened.

Time and time against it's getting ignored (by the same handful of people most of the time, granted) that a lot of these guys are opting for regular game-time rather than riding a bench in the big time....

Eze, Watkins, Bowden, Benrhama....

Good luck to them too.

Cue: "Aaaaah, but there's plenty of games to go around"

Yeh, well tell that to Vinicius, Rodon & Clarke right now......Winks, Dele & Sanchez for differing reasons.... Even Doherty must be wondering what the 2nd half of the season holds.

And our 5th / 6th choice central midfielder should be the same quality as our 1st choice.

We can’t sign all the players. And if we could, we can’t keep them all happy.

which is really stupid

Also, the reason we're looking for the non-standard signing because we can't afford the standard signings, or they're they're not really that good.

Bergwijn would be a standard signing. Not many people are happy with him either.
