True.

But I think so much of that is down to Conte seeing the defence as key to how we attack. They have to know exactly when to push up, where to play the ball, plus we’ll likely see a deep laying playmaker join us.

In that regard, *both* Sanchez and Dier are unsuitable, but especially the former as he’s uncomfortable in possession.

For the time being however, they’re both doing their best.
Sanchez has much improved under Conte. But the thought of him next to Tanganga on a regular basis is frightening.

I don't keep lists either, but I vividly remember some of your criticisms being highly dubious at the time....

General note though: A lucky bounce or ricochet taking a player out of the game at a pivotal moment is not a so-called "fuck up".
You might not even be realising this but I think your bias towards dier/davies is possibly the reason you dont see those fuckups as fuckups either. So even when they do fuckup you think its all okay and its just 'bad luck' or a 'lucky bounce'.

If we can get good quality for cheaper then so be it, great. That is what the DOF and scouting is for. But if not, then we have to pay up if we're looking to challenge the other 3 clubs, Traore does not fit the bill of good quality for a cheaper fee imo.

Completely different point to that of the "told you so" stance of your last post.

The interest was years ago, this month Traore is 26, he can't cross, he can't shoot, he's only been at mediocre clubs. Lamptey still very young, young enough to get some money back on him if it didn't work out but I'm confident that Conte would improve him. Injuries are always a concern but we're still showing interest, I don't think that is stopping us.

As you ought to have noted from my last post; I have my own reservations about Traore, but again, I was responding to the assertions of your response to the article, not an unspoken personal opinion on the player.

If Brighton said tomorrow they would sell him to us for 20 million, I'm sure we would want to buy him despite his past injuries, so his fee is the main thing.

No shit! ...... 20m vs 50m for any player makes them an entirely different prospect/risk.

It would be very silly if all your're essentially saying is that price-tag shouldn't be a consideration with a player purchase.

Nah.... That's not what's at play here at all. I won't pretend for a moment that they're not without flaw..... Some of the fuck-ups you attribute to them are legit..... However, some of it is trumped up confirmation bias. It's blatant when you're gunning for a player.; their name is never far from your lips (even when discussing other players).

This isn't about Levy. It's about January. Signing quality players is rare for everyone

Understand, but in recent years January transfers have included:

Bruno Fernandes
Tielemans
Odegaard
Pulisic
Higuain
Even Lo Celso (didn't work out but was a major signing at time)

These players have been bought by teams with an urgent need at the time. If we want top four and a trophy with the best manager this club has seen in decades, the need is very urgent.

We are the masters of our own fate if we do the work and put our money where our mouth is.

I'm tired of hearing reasons why Levy and ENIC should be given a free pass.

A Jan loan.

Another Jan loan.

Pre-purchased, but didn't leave Dortmund til the summer.

We signed him in the summer (we just triggered the purchase clause in Jan when it was decided we wanted to keep him).

"Bought" isn't strictly true in any of those cases apart from Fernandes.

Count how many times you hear managers and pundits say "It's tough to buy players in Jan" over the next month... It isn't excuse making; it's a commonly accepted notion throughout the game.

Clubs don't want to let their good players leave half-way through the season(*).

You ever wondered why virtually EVERY player contract ends on June 30th?

(*Sure we can probably cherry-pick a little list together over the last 10/20 years, but anomalies don't disprove the norm.)

It's relating to that point.

I know you do, I never indicated that you wanted him, I'm just saying Conte's interest was years ago doesn't mean he's still interested.

If his injuries are a concern at 50 million, why aren't they at 20 million? They still should be shouldn't they if it stops him from developing and playing games? A crocked player is a crocked player, He's a player that we'd be looking to, to improve the first team not just a squad player.
