Hmmm, but in that case just 12 goals in 84 games suggests he's not very prolific. Those stats might be ok for a CAM, but you'd want a lot more than 1 goal every 7 games from a striker surely. :/

What if he's working hard to bring others into play like Benzema did. A selfless player like that can fool the whole world into thinking the benefiting players are better than they are because they get the glory.Hmmm, but in that case just 12 goals in 84 games suggests he's not very prolific. Indeed it could be that this is how it works with him, and as long as the overall team benefit is great, then that's fine. It's just a bit more complicated with a striker of that nature - most managers (not all, but most) like to have a striker they can rely on to bang in near as possible to 20 league goals every season - if your main striker isn't going to do that, then it can get 'messy' to work out what's going wrong when the team stops scoring goals... Again, a bit like with Vlahovic, I'm not necessarily saying I'm against it, I'm just saying that personally I'd be cautious of any striker with what looks on the surface like an obvious flaw (e.g. only scores tap-ins, or doesn't score many goals, in the two examples above). What if he's working hard to bring others into play like Benzema did. I watched the second half of the Portugal - Serbia game yesterday and, although he didn't do anything spectacular, a few times he was in a position in the penalty area where he was unmarked and received the ball. I can't tell whether that was due to bad defending, or good movement from him, but that in itself is a very desirable skill. At a minimum it keeps the defense occupied and opens space for other players. Is it worth the asking price for him? I'll leave that to the experts.Actually watching that video of his goals last season, most of them are penalties and 6-yard-box tap-ins, with the very vast majority of the goals (even from further out) being the result of someone else supplying him. I'm not necessarily saying that doesn't make him a great striker etc - Lineker made a great career of little more than finishing in some people's opinion - but does it suggest that he is all about finishing and very little else, and if so, is that ok for us?
If you compare to Kane, over the years there have been loads of goals where he has got a yard on the man in front of him before smacking one in the corner - I don't see any of those goals in that Vlahovic video, he never has to beat a man... But perhaps if you're always in the right place at the right time, you don't need to beat a man (or have effectively already done so off the ball by finding the space)... ??? :/
Most overrated position on the field. Most underrated? GK.It must be terrifying spending that much money on a striker. Of all assets, it has the greatest chance of turning south.
I'd actually prefer a striker that could move around the pitch as if he is not carrying a piano and stay busy doing the other 80% of the job that isn't looking for their own goals. But that's just me I think. That's what I want from my strikers. Hard running is the bread. Goals are jam.I'd actually prefer a striker that could move around the pitch as if he is not carrying a piano and stay busy doing the other 80% of the job that isn't looking for their own goals. But that's just me I think.

And we have a track record of buying dud strikersIt must be terrifying spending that much money on a striker. Of all assets, it has the greatest chance of turning south.
Despite not scoring against Portugal yesterday I was impressed with Vlahovic. Sent one to the post and was very hard to deal for Portuguese defenders. Plus he looks like an action actor from the 80s.
Kane likes to drop in. I wouldnt mind seeing him play behind vlahovic tbh in a teddy sheringham sort of role.
In the absence of a quality CAM, why not? His passing and long distance shooting can be as good as some of the best midfielders.
If we get Vlahovic, we need to play him as first choice 9 and get him up to speed ASAP. Not just sign him for his re-sale value.
Nah, screw that. Kane lacks the guile to play as a 10, his long range passing is excellent but when he's pressured he lacks any attributes to get away from his marker. Teams would find it far too easy to shut him down, as they have many a time in the past. The passing is a nice asset but not enough to play as a midfielder.
We need a player in that role who can resist a press well. Low centre of gravity, good dribbler etc .. someone who when he finds himself surrounded by players can jink in and out. That immediately opens up space for guys like Kane, Vlahovic or Son.
Why does every conversation eventually trickle back to our need for Ndombele to finally get his shit together. :contefacepalm:
Ergo fix the blend behind/besides him and let's get this show on the road..... Finally!
Yeah if he sorted himself out then he’s perfect … but I wouldn’t exactly count on it to be fair.
