Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

NDombele and GLC were both 1 season wonders playing for teams well outside the top echelons of their leagues.
Big fish for a season in small ponds.

I wonder if our targets shouldn't be stand out players for smaller teams, but maybe ones that just failed to cut it at top clubs. IE VDV and Bale and those kinds of players.
This describes Lo Celso at PSG though doesn't it? He has been both a small fish in a big pond and a big fish in a small pond... Fuck knows what's wrong with the water at Spurs!

Also probably not a fair assessment of VdV and Bale, both cut it plenty well at Madrid on the pitch, but were moved on for other reasons.

I'm back-translating here from Marca's report on what KT said to The Athletic but this is the quote...

"I know 100%, without a shadow of a doubt - and this is what most annoyed me - that two months before the end of the season Daniel was offering me to other clubs"
Turns out he is even more pony at doing it early than leaving it late, would of thought that was impossible

I think to some extent where we unlucky. Ndombele was smashing it for Lyon, he was in the French League team of the year, the Champions League team of the year I believe and playing for France. He showed all the press resistant qualities we loved about Dembele. That he would take his £200k a week contract and do a Abamayang and retire is unfortunate.

Lo Celso was also doing great in Spainish, I asked a Spanish friend at work about him who is a RM fan and he said Lo Celso is probably in the top 5 AM’s in the league or was that season.

Both had been killing it and in a big way. They passed the eye test but obviously not the mentality test, for that I could only our guess scouting needs to be better. But finding out about a players personality off the pitch can’t be easy.

Another sickening irony... Poch was supposed to be all about Mentality & 'Philosopy of Workrate'. :(

......A bit like when, in disciplinary terms, he turned a blind eye to the fuckery of Rose (Sun-gate) & Toby (contract) he undermined a bit more of the "magic".

This window's been an absolute disaster....

No cooking tips.
No movie reviews.
No "Favourite Bond" debate....
......And not even a single reference to the "Gonna need a bigger boat" Jaws meme.
I did some lovely huevos rancheros for lunch with eggs laid this morning from where we go horse riding.

Added some crispy-fried diced panceta (thick cut bacon would work too) to the spicy tomato sauce, get involved, it takes it up a notch.

Top tip (this is a game changer for poached eggs too): sieve the eggs for a minute or so in a tea strainer first, then transfer to an espresso coffee cup or a ramekin before slipping into the sauce (lightly boiling water in the case of poached eggs). The sieving gets rid of the most liquid bit of the egg white which tends to splay out all over the shop and you get a far neater, more satisfying finish.

Ok, but again someone from a the EPL; right under our nose.

.....At the same time McGuire & Robertson were the obvious moves (also for dirt cheap from Hull) and we got neither.

Dele was 100% a pleat job.

Besides; is that actually true though? (See the Mane thing.... )

Sat scouting EPL players on Sky Sports doesn't sound like much "hassle" to me.

People also always seem to overlook the part where he and Poch were supposedly bickering (*with Poch happy to assume the "manager" mantle in the wake of his exit no less) and another report that PM didn't leave for "sporting reasons".......

Ok, maybe as a trio Levy, Poch & Mitchel hypothetically weren't clicking..... I just don't see him as being particularly relevant to our current predicament (for the reasons noted in my initial post).
Maquire was after Mitchell, we looked at him and went for Sanchez instead. Pleat might have recomended Alli, Pleat recommends lots of lower league players but we signed him on Mitchells watch. Again this isnt about his merits (although clearly he was better than Hitchen) but he couldnt tolerate working under Levy. Some put up with it and get their reputation shredded, others walk. There is only one common denominator in all these transfer windows and that obviously isnt Baldini, Redknapp, AVB, Commoli, Mitchell, Poch or Paratici. All have had issues and maybe partly culpable but its all just deflection from the real issue.

I think it was easier for him to stick to his principles in his first season when the players were new to him and most predated him, once they were his signings and had been part of his revolution, he was too attached to them to cull the one's who stepped out of line.

Much easier to ostracise Kaboul/Benny who you've known for a couple of months and were brought in by your predecessors than to do the same to Toby/Rose who had joined/flourished under your watch and played a part in your success.

He did kind of punish Toby and dropped him for a while in favour of Sanchez, but the following season (Poch's last I think?) Toby was back in.

I'm not retracting anything, I said he flogged all of our goal threats, that was poor wording on two fronts, the first that it implies he sold them when in reality 2 were ended loans that he simply didn't replace (I also said Lamela "sort of" as he wasn't a prolific scorer as such, but an attacking option still).

The second error was that I meant back ups, as selling all of our goal threats would have included Kane and Son too, which obviously didn't happen.

He replaced the 3 with Gil, who I like, but who has provided nothing as of right now no matter how good he may become.

So his dealings have left the squad in a poor state in an attacking sense, you can disagree if you like but the actual stats back this up.

I don't think I ever said anything about his first window being mixed? The sole piece of business that people point to in his favour is Romero, it's generous to claim this as a success given he's probably played almost as many minutes for Argentina as Spurs this season. It'd probably be just as fair to put him in the same boat as Gil, potentially good but nothing proven so far.

Mixed might actually be a generous appraisal of his work, for the here and now anyway.

Regardless, I believe my initial point was that his reputation based on being on the phone a lot and being awake a lot wasn't going to last for long when considered alongside his actual outputs of weakening our attacking options, spunking a load on Emerson, and installing Nuno to bring us attacking football.

Now if you like, you can continue to argue over some poor initial wording, or, you could demonstrate to me which of the bolded points aren't true?

Pretty sure I've hit my points already......

Reserving total outrage til the window is closed but it’s disgraceful that ENIC are pulling this bullshit with Conte. Even more disgraceful that the ENIC apologists will seek to excuse it

Barcelona are a considerably bigger club than us and Traore plays for Spain. Of course it shouldn't come as a surprise over anyone he would choose them over us every day of the week.

I think he would have been an interesting purchase but he's not suddenly going to find a final ball. He's 26, not 20. He's approaching what should be his peak. If and when he looses his speed over the next couple of years he will basically be Djimi Traore.

I thought Lo Celso at least would be successful, particularly given he was our best player for his first 3 months under Jose. Really odd and disappointing. Does highlight though how character is as important as talent.

I think you're giving him too much credit. He hardly played at all until the new year, had about 5 decent games, got his deal made permanent then dropped away again

Djimi won a CL, didn't he?
