Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Elite footballers are clearly a shallow lot, interested in trinkets more than building clubs and genuinely enjoying the battle on the pitch.

Perhaps the only way is to go full mercenary like earth Shitty days and pay crazy wages - but with the mess that Tanguy has created, I’d be amazed if we do that.

Bit of a rock and a hard place.

Certainly makes me think less of footballers: personally, I’d go to the nicest environment - best training ground, best stadium, best city (ie, not Dippers or Newcastle).

Oh, well - it’s a few years until the Prem is a two/ three team league like Spain and Italy.
We pay less,
We offer less.
We muck around ,
We have no ambition
We have no direction
We have revolving managers
We don't win anything
Top players wan't away
Fans are fucked off constantly
Nice environment bollocks 15,000
not turning up.
A shit chairman
A cunt owner
Players don't give a toss
about infrastructure

I wonder why they never come ?

Not sure our strategy of putting Poundland stock in Harrods at Harrods prices is that well thought out. I am sure the man who overpriced Bentley for 4 years , thus recouping nothing and paying an extra 12 million in wages ( minus a couple of brief loans savings) knows what he is doing .
I don’t think the atmosphere will be as toxic as some think , but I think the drop off in season ticket sales next season is going to be massive
Maybe people will cut Kane some slack now, firstly I know who I believe about the gentleman’s agreement ( the tall fella with hair) . Secondly if you could leave having been loyal for years as poor decisions followed poor decisions and double your money would you stay.
Maybe that ship has sailed now for Harry , but does anyone , anyone at all doubt he was deceived

Also does anyone blame Harry for having ambition

As soon as our interest in Diaz was made public there was always a chance Liverpool would make their move.

He’ll end up there. More ambitious club, in the champions league and fighting for the title.
Notabadsquad has already answered it well but I don’t think our biggest problem is ambition per se.

Yes Daniel watches and counts his pennies, I for one applaud that we don’t go all City/Chelsea and write blank cheques.

But where we’re positioned as a club leads to no success. People bleat on about us being the 8th richest club. Matters not when you’re still 5th-6th richest in England.

The moment we go for any player that appears to be world class, or verging on world class, or very good… a bigger club with a richer history of success swoops to seal the deal. What looks like happening with Diaz.

So we end up with the Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sanchez ilk players who deliver false promise of being very good or better. Then we have trouble shifting these overpaid players out, leading to calls that Daniel is tight for worrying about outgoings to fund incomings.

For the size we are and the aspirations we have (jose and Conte are ambitious appointments), we are in the wrong country.

City, United, Liverpool and the Chavs will continue to be more appealing to high quality players than us.

Or you could act quickly, offer something acceptable and either get the deal done or at least so far down the line the player is committed.

You mean like Willian?

We are a draw no doubt at all but not the biggest.

What is important with Newcastle coming over the Horizon and Villa threatening is to try and find some unknown jewels and soon. .

On this Diaz, I thonk it's more about the lure of Liverpool than the repulsion of us, and more than mobey alone.

This isn't close to good enough.

Morata's finishing is poor; and it's not like we create that many chances so can't afford that.
Amrabat doesn't start for Fiorentina.

Djed Spence is good option for RWB, but hard to tell how he'll transition to PL.
Just me speculating mate but i dont really see who else we go for now, Vlahovic, Kessie, MacKennie, Diaz, Traore off the table. Maybe Jonathan David? That Swedish winger at Juve? All seems a bit late in the day....again

You can't blame Paratici for Diaz choosing Liverpool over us.

But does he has back up options that are quality?
Or did we have all our eggs in one basket towards the end of the window?

Why can’t you blame Levy ? If this was genuinely a target for us, why the fuck didn’t we go early in the window with a solid bid and just get this guy signed ? Why ? Because Levy is a useless cunt that feels waiting until deadline gets us a better deal. Low and behold, Liverpool catch wind and like a big club they are unlike our sorry lot, they immediately come in with an offer and buy him. We are a fucking shambles

Ornstein is very very reliable.
He’s got a couple of Woolwich things right but I think he just mages educated guesses about Spurs, don’t think he’s ever broken anything regarding us and been right. He’s also one of these that seems to claim to have a contact at every player and club in the known universe, bit like Lyall. But because he’s got a black and white picture on his profile and writes for the pseudo intellectual glorified red top people seem to believe everything he says.

Jonathan David has a good record, but I read a profile of him by a French journalist which basically described him as quite a limited player who does well because of Lille's front 2 system. Apparently he would struggle in Ligue 1 if he had to play up front by himself, or on the wing.

I'm not sure that's a great sign in terms of adapting to the PL.

I think Liverpool would have hijacked the bid regardless of when we bid for him.

I do think levy is to blame for the Adama bid though. If we had bid more, we could have financially outcompeted Barcelona.

He gets a lot of things right about Spurs too. He was the first to break the story about Kane wanting to leave

I fucking hate Levy. What a massive cunt!

If we lose Diaz to Liverpool and get nothing this window, I hope Conte quits, Kane refuses to play and that the whole club implodes - if that's what it takes to get Levy and ENIC to sell our club.

Good post, so we need a change to our operating model.

Best scouts possible and coach who can and wants to develop players and will be given the time to do so.

It's why Potter more than Conte, despite the guy's credentials might (only might) have been the smarter choice in the summer.

Another morning where you log onto TFC, go to the transfers thread only to be hit with more disappointment..
