Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So we have 4 CMs now - Skipp, PEH, Winks, Bentancur.

Skipp and PEH have been extremely durable. Almost always available and play a lot of minutes. Winks injury record is decent although he hasn't played a ton recently. Bentancur I'm not sure, but it seems he hasn't had a bad injury history.

So that's 2 extremely reliable and 2 fairly reliable CMs when it comes to availability. We aren't going to have room for a 5th CM that is decent. It should be a young guy that could play in a pinch but is still developing (Like Sarr).

I think we could be ok with 4 CMs and then have an emergency option from the youth squad (if there is one).

Obviously, all this could change with unexpected injuries. Having only one forward is way worse than the CM situation.

It limits us tactically though. Conte often goes for 352, that’s 3 CM’s, so he now is forced to go 343 or risk burning his midfield. That’s a major risk, 5 would cover and before today we had more than 5 even if Conte didn’t want to use them.

The transfer window is fine if we go out in the summer and properly build up a new squad and replace these players. Then it's worth the short term pain of perhaps dealing with depth issues but getting them off the bill and beginning the rebuild.

If we go out and sign only 2-3 players in the summer rather than mounting a genuine rehaul of this squad the way Poch declared we needed one, then it's not a good window at all. So we won't really know for a good while.
We haven't signed a RWB which is concerning but it could also mean we are just going to have to suck it up for 6 months and find a really good option this summer.

Royal is a new signing so it's going to be tough to get rid of him. So if we made a panic buy at RWB this window, we'd be stuck with 2 RWBs who aren't good fits. It really sucks but I'd rather wait till summer if no one good is available IF we actually make that purchase in the summer.

It's an incredibly glaring need at the moment, so I have to believe the club has a plan.

Winks and Dier are still at the club. Two bang average players. Showed Ndomble the exit door (on loan), looks like Dele is going on a permanent and Lo Celso as well. Why keep average players when we are letting go of our creative players who can actually change a game (I realise that dele and ndomble need a kick up the ass). Only for his brace against Leicester, Bergwijn be gone as well.

Am I the only one who thinks its insane we are showing the door to 3 attacking midfielders- ok Lo Celso, not that disappointed.

Doherty, Gil, Sanchez, Winks, Davies and Dier. Seriously poor players. They wouldn't make the starting 11 of any of the top 6 or in line as subs, so why are they good enough for us. January is a joke of transfer window in general, but serious change/s of things need to come this summer.
Ndombele and Lo Celso never played for us and we’re creative or of any use really. You sound so dumb.

Be honest now, how many share my experience of having told more than one (non-spurs) mate, that we signed our Messiah in Ndombele....and are now waiting to have the piss taken :deledoubt:

Obviously, we as Spurs fans have known for a while that it was a gigantic bust, but the loan out confirms it to the world, and there's a few people, I'm gonna avoid seeing for a week or two :levywtf:

Again though, whether he plays 3-5-2 or not, what's the point of having players in the squad if they're of no use?

You do realise Kulu can play attacking midfield. Every time we have played a 3 bar the Liverpool game it has been Winks, Skipp and Hojberg. I think the window has been a failure but more because we have not signed a right wing back.

He is said to have a 60+ mil release clause, so unless we're able to do a deal with Atletico for max a third of that (he's 29 after all), I very much doubt we'd get him. Unless somehow Atletico is able to sign Matty Cash in the coming hours and they need to recoup some of their investment by selling Carrasco.

Here's a better idea. We Spurs go after Matty Cash. Younger, homegrown, knows the PL...
Good shout on cash. Been good for villa in premier league imo
