Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My worry with our bald leader is his mindset is completely different to the Spurs fans and Ange. We are all united in wanting a CB In immediately, so he can settle in quickly and we have some quality at the back with our injuries etc. Levy’s thinking is Romero will only miss a few games and VDV possibly back mid Jan, means we can struggle through it until end of Jan. 100% that will be his mindset to not sign a CB straight away and we all know it

Well I think that will be the case but he might just surprise us. I think if we win the next two and be within 3 points of the top then he might start to believe challenging for the title is possible. Lose the next two and he’ll wait till he can get the best price.
These next two games are as big as games can get for us for so many reasons.

Just before every transfer window opens, lots of people put forward unlikely names.

Here's a new one I very much doubt will happen - might have happened a few years ago, and no doubt resurrected out of someone's hard drive.

"Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, but the Reds’ are believed to not be keen to sell the player."

😄

Gotta love these articles that are over and done within one sentence; despite all the fluff they spin for another full page of text.

Probably also thinking that top 4 is looking pretty good under Ange, once everyone returns, we'll be able to sqeak past Villa to that 4th spot.

That's the ideal position to maximise revenue and minimise expenses. Pushing the boat out to try and compete for the title might be less optimal financially.

Spurs were plans to sign a CB back was not to solve the January injury crisis but to simply because the lack of quality CB back up - but, of course, injuries to Romoero & van de Ven has exacerbated the injury problem; which makes the signing of a CB even more urgent.
Angelos told already last summer that Spurs needed a CB. I doubt Sangante is even on their "most wanted" list anyway.
Besides, it's not sure Sangante will be selected in the AFCON squad. So far he's not played a single game for Senegal.
  1. Yes, we needed a CB before the injury crisis, but there's no real use signing someone in January that doesn't help in the short term.
  2. If he can't get in the Senegal team then he's not ready for Spurs.

Branthwaite might end up a Van Dijk monster. Just something about him. So much presence at the heart of the Everton defence.
Passing needs work, which is concerning with the way we play.

He's my preference right now, though. We need someone that can plug in and play immediately, he knows the league, players, and language.

Doubt Everton sells right now, not now that they're finally playing well after flirting with relegation for 2 years.
