Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When you see already since Monday big money deals getting done when we were led to believe that covid would call a halt to this is pure bollocks.
As a club we are doing what it has always done and that is gone into risk adverse mode, um and ah over pushing the club on with the profit this club makes is embarrassing.
I know people joke but I seriously think that levy is actually hoping to pick up the net spend trophy or greatest bank balance sheet award.
Mourinho won't be given the players to compete with the big boys. Then we will blame manager number 8 or whatever it is. Rather than admit the owners & levy don't give the manager the tools needed to take us to the next level.

GETTING TO is not a thing.
It doesn’t exist.
It has no conclusion.
It has no prize
It has no outcome

It’s as relevant as celebrating “getting to” the semi final.

Do you celebrate being top with one game left but fucking it up and coming second?

How small time is our fan base?
I enjoy the journey, yes. I celebrate achieving well, relative to others. I look for positives where I can.

I didn’t personally celebrate ‘fucKing it up and coming second’, but I was excited by the journey up to that point and I did celebrate along the way. (You know, like Jose, most successful manager in PL history who celebrated our 6th place; like Pep celebrates the League Cup; like SAF celebrated every win even in seasons where the title was gone - perhaps take a look at what ‘career winners’ celebrate and consider attitudes around that?)

You’ll know I’m sure that elite athletes celebrate progress against their personal goals, not just the medals or the world records or the trophies? The first shirt from a rival team might be as important as the WC winner’s medal in the scheme of things: we don’t know.

On another note, please don’t be so rude as to imply that I’m ‘small-time’ with your comments about ‘our fan base’, it makes you look silly as you know nothing about me.

Do you not think that might have had a little bit to do with the two best attacking players at the club being sidelined at the time?
Or you convieniently forgetting that?
"Conveniently forgetting"???!!

I've actually posted the fact that the suspension of the league saved his/our arses. We were on a slide to hell, prior to suspension, playing the most dogshite football in the league. The league was suspended which meant he got the injured players back. So yeah it had EVERYTHING to do with it. That's point 1.

Point 2. Being made is Jose didn't find a solution to having those players injured.

We have to decide though are we a big ambitious club or not, I guess I have answered that.
:mourthumb:
I think we are a club that’s on the path to longevity and success.
It’s a long road, not a quick fix.
But look back to that days of the old top 4....going back a good 15 years now and who has actually broken into it consistently?
City and us.

Like I said, easier when you’re spunking someone else’s cash without a care in the world and zero punishment for breaking the rules

I think Jose will get the players he wants: they might not be the players we want, but they’ll suit Jose (and they might not be the type of players he would have asked for at other clubs).

Most of our goals will come from Harry and Sonny - the focus will be on shifting the ball to them quickly, and protecting a 1 goal lead. Ugly football, but effective. I’d expect a static DM, possibly a passing midfielder and a more defensive RB than Serge.

There’s enough in the squad to rotate to cover players except if both Harry / Son are out - if Parrott does go on loan, then maybe a ‘war horse’ forward, too - just in case.

I hope he does. I agree with the rest. Maybe need a LB too though.

I suppose the cynic in me doesn't believe it, but maybe if it happens eventually that would be great if course.

Definately this season as we have been particularly poor & had many injuries. May as well have given a few younger players a run out. On the flip side it seems like we just aren't producing enough young talent. So maybe mourinho doesn't rate our youngsters which isn't surprising. Our youth is important to us as we can't compete with the big boys in terms of signing players. Our youth structure needs a rethink. We need to use the youth option more. 1 first teamer coming out of the youth academy every 3 or 4 seasons would be pretty good.

I agree we have played poorly this season and I think the fans were crying out for something to raise their spirits. Playing a young lad and seeing their enthusiasm rubs of on the fan's.Other teams were hit harder with injuries and they were not afraid to put youth in. It just seems that our managers are so scared to risk the youth when really fans would forgive a bit when the youth are being played

I still believe in our last season at the Lane we had the best starting 11 in the PL so although unlikely it’s still
Possible to get the best team without being financially doped, it’s not about spending loads , it’s about having better scouts as we seem to buy more duds then say Liverpool , and even if we do get decent scouts without a better medical team they will just end up injured any way,

Apart from Parrott, we didn’t really have youth where it was needed, maybe? And I think we’d probably all play Lucas over an untried 18 year old if millions of pounds was at risk.

I can’t say for sure, but I guess most of us would play the CL semi-final ‘Hat-trick hero’ first?
(And I cant explain Skipp - must have done something really bad in a past life...)

I think timing too. The past 2 seasons wouldn't have won us the title if we had that peak poch team. If Leicester did what they did back in the title winning season over the last 2 seasons, (without checking the pt's) they probably finish 3rd. I expect a drop off in points for the title winners next season by at least 15 pts.
Yes, you still need to spend it wisely. City have dropped off a bit with the duds they have bought. & keeping players fit is always important. Kane seems guranteed a 2-3 month injury every season. If that happened to VVD then liverpool would be vunerable.

There is one reason we lose our shit at our shortcomings though.
And that’s because we are always so close.
But how can anyone tell me ENIC has failed massively and has no ambition etc when we can all remember (if you’re not 12) the idea of breaking top 4 being one of the most laughable notions in football.
And before that we went MENTAL at getting into the EL.

Show me one other club that has elevated itself from 14th and 11th as standard, to where we are now in 15 years.
Some tried......they did a Leeds. Literally.

The rest of the top 4 regressed, and are now pretty shit (bar Liverpool who only had a proper come back two years ago)

Not one other club has steadily built itself up, lots of talk from a lot of yo yo clubs, and of course the perennial nothing club Everton.
But it’s Spurs who made it.....count City all you want, if you want, but that’s not building and they’ve got nothing to be proud of.

Despite my harsh words about Poch, AVB, Eriksen, Dele etc, I’m proud of THFC and thankful to all who played their part in its elevation to what we are today.

People say the common denominator is ENIC.
Well I agree, and hopefully now with a world class manager they will finally put the final piece of the jigsaw together.

Anyone can do a Chelsea......but we’re not Chelsea and any Spurs fan demanding we behave like them should be ashamed.

We’ve always been special and different and when we do it off our own back, a few fans will be genuinely be able to cry tears of pride.

I feel sorry for those among us who’s first reaction will be “about time”...

No we weren't.

No-one predicted that the likes of City & Utd. wouldn't splash the cash regardless.... That's "bollocks" on your part.

What was predicted is that clubs reliant upon their stadium income would be affected... That means most of the other 90-odd teams up and down the pyramid.

Why only certain fan's can feel proud, whether you have supported spurs for 50 years or 50 weeks everyone is entitled to enjoy the moment if it comes.
I respect your opinion and your passion it is good to see, the club is going in the direction that our owner's want so we have to go along with it.
