Except uncle Joe is a tax exile in the Bahamas....
So I'm not seeing a great deal of difference between ENIC and any other owner - other that their stewardship has been excellent. If a new consortium comes along and promises to take us to the "next level" then that's not a bad thing. Next level means competing with Man City, Utd, Chelsea on wages so we attract the very top players.
Daniel Levy IMHO has been a better chairman than most of his predecessors and it would be a shame to lose him.

I would hate it mate. Nothing to do with Levy per se but I love the fact we are an English club owned by English owners.
Even though our "English Owners" are domiciled in the tax haven of the Bahamas to avoid paying their due tax into the English (UK) system?

Yeah. Name a billionaire who isn't?

Lewis is English, I like the fact I can right now walk to the pub he grew up in in about 10mins. I love the fact Levy is English and a supporter of the club. I love the fact all of our rivals can't claim this. It's not a major thing, it's just another layer of what I think is great about this club.

Official Statement...

"The Club engaged Rothschild to secure the funding for the new stadium. As expected many proposals came forward including bank debt and equity investment.

The Club announced on 31 May 2017 the completion of the bank debt financing for the new stadium with a consortium of banks involving Bank of America Merrill Lynch International Limited, Goldman Sachs Bank USA and HSBC Bank plc. The Board believes this was the optimum solution in the interests of fans, employees and shareholders and for the continued development of the Club.

The Board is not in any discussions relating to a takeover offer for the Club."

Out of interest, do you research anything before you type it, or wing it in the hope you're correct?
I was waiting for your inevitable rebuke. Happens with pretty much every post I and others make. Your probably gonna put forward a 14 page dossier now proving the tax credentials of Joe Lewis and praising his massive contribution to the UK welfare system

The Porn brothers are English too aren't they. Would you be proud of them if they owned our club?

I don't really feel it's necessary. You're obsessed with painting the ownership in a bad light, despite seeming to be aware that there are absolutely no facts to back it up.

The club, Levy, his companies, and ENIC are all UK based and pay UK tax.

Why would you expect Joe Lewis to pay tax when he isn't on the payroll or the board? (i.e. earns no money in the UK)

No they are utter cunts. What is the point you are trying to make?
Only that your proud to be owned by Joe Lewis because he's English, despite his very dark and quirky tax/business profile.
What you seem to be saying is nationality trumps all. Regardless of ethics or personality....

It's mainly that most American owners have been beyond shit. Lewis/Levy at least want to build something, the record of the Galzers, Randy Lerner, Fenway, Kronke etc is not exactly enticing is it.

Lewis also in comparison to the slave owners and the gangster seems like your average rich billionaire dick. We could do a lot worse than Lewis/Levy.

I'd take a foreign owner if he was decent.

Petty nationalism, destructive and the mouthpiece of the irrational.
I have nothing in common with any billionaire no matter what the nationality.
Nothing petty about it. One of the biggest threats to the English game is foreign ownership. American owners of English clubs have already tabled the idea to end relegation!!! This was a number of years ago, and since then the number of American owners has snowballed. That alone is enough for there to be a reason to be worried. When technology comes in, just wait until we cut to the ad brake whilst that penalty decision is resolved. If you think I'm exaggerating, look at what is being discussed for a European Super League only last year! So there is something rational for you to get your gums around. What's your rational for having foreign owners?

I've absolutely no problem what so ever with foreign managers, players comping into the game, I love it. It's made things far better. I have a love for the culture of the English game, the oldest known football culture in the world. A culture that intrigues those that have a well established and different football culture themselves and is copied and envied by others. I am and will always be very protective of this culture, one that will be changed when every club is run by an American, Chinese or Arab state.
