1. Many reliable sources said we were very interested and Fernandes himself said everything was agreed with him, just not with Sporting.Because there’s no basis to believe it’s not bullshit.
Because we don’t have a bottomless pit of money.
Because we have a number of attacking midfielders already.
Stuff like that.
What absolute unfounded, clueless, childish horse shit that is. Acting as if expensive top class defenders were the topic of conversation that you wouldn't still be spouting the same steaming pile of deflective trash.the attacking midfielders and forwards aren't the problem. But that's where the solutions always are for you transfer fanboys.
1. Any quotes from someone involved and not just a source? Fernandes himself said he spoke to us last summer, but it went no further. And Ricky Sacks isn’t a reliable source.1. Many reliable sources said we were very interested and Fernandes himself said everything was agreed with him, just not with Sporting.
2. No we don't, but we are an extremely wealthy club and could easily have afforded him.
3. The club clearly wanted a new number 10 to replace Eriksen, who was one of the most important players in the squad by some distance. The three players the club evidently lined up were, Fernandes, Coutinho or Dybala. The fact we failed to sign any of them is disappointing to say the least considering all were available. Are you saying we wouldn't be in a better position squad wise if we had managed to get any of the three over the line.
1. Sporting chief opens up on Spurs' failed Bruno Fernandes transfer1. Any quotes from someone involved and not just a source? Fernandes himself said he spoke to us last summer, but it went no further. And Ricky Sacks isn’t a reliable source.
2. To the detriment of which other position? We spend £55m plus £25m add ons plus £6m to the agent and we can’t spend that elsewhere.
3. No I’m not saying that. We’d be much better off squad wise right now, but would have been weaker longer term. We can no spend that money on a couple of high quality defenders, or a DM.
Fair point on the quote. Mainly reads to me that they didn’t want his clause to activate, so we’re always going to renegotiate his contract. Therefore he wasn’t really available. But he may have been. We don’t know.1. Sporting chief opens up on Spurs' failed Bruno Fernandes transfer
2. We let one of our best players (Eriksen) go and made an absolute fudge Sunday of replacing him. As we did with Dembele. As we did with Walker. As we've done with pretty much every important player we've sold in the past decade. What in the name of all that's holy would give you even a smidge of confidence that Spurs would spend said money that we saved in a better way?
3. Long term. FFS. Why not for once at Tottenham improve the here and now squad, rather than worrying about tomorrow. It's the story of Spurs.
Levy is not an Angel or a devil but somewhere in between. He makes mistakes and loses some deals but saves the club money on others. I was not happy when we kept losing our best players including Berbatov and Bale but that has pretty much stopped. Losing Walker and Eriksen was very different. Levy stopped that by giving longer contracts. That has its downside when he cannot get rid of players on long contracts like Rose. Levy does not choose which player to buy or sell but can lose deals by prevaricating. Also he has caused bad starts to previous seasons by leaving purchases too late. However he has made us competitive by building the new stadium. We are in a much more competitive position than when he arrived.
It is really a love/hate situation but whatever our views he is not going anywhere soon.
Hmm surely leaving us with a squad not good enough for top 4 will cause us to miss out on lots of CL revenue. This pandemic scenario makes me relieved that Levy has such a strict and high standard on keeping the club financially healthy.
Seeing our revenue maybe halve this season (less matchdays, sponsorship clauses) but our costs not to that extent (Maybe some players will symbolically sacrifice a fraction of their wages) will put immense pressure on our books.
does pochettino not hold any responsibility for that?Hmm surely leaving us with a squad not good enough for top 4 will cause us to miss out on lots of CL revenue.
The tweet wasn't about Fernandes, it was about Coutinho and used Fernandes as anecdotal evidence that Levy's penny-pinching has cost Spurs deals. But the tweet was very plainly about Coutinho, they even used his picture to reinforce the point. Coutinho was only ever available for loan and even then only at a ridiculously stupid rate.
Whether or not we signed Fernandes, additionally, is utterly unrelated to how shit we are. Even with bus parking Mourinho our defence can't stop leaking goals like a sieve. We're shite from the midfield back right now...the attacking midfielders and forwards aren't the problem. But that's where the solutions always are for you transfer fanboys.
Pretty good post on the whole but the only thing that makes no sense is the statement that the stadium makes us more competitive. Only better results can do that, surely.Levy is not an Angel or a devil but somewhere in between. He makes mistakes and loses some deals but saves the club money on others. The increased revenue from the new stadium allows us to be more competitive in the transfer market including wages and keep our best players. That is no guarantee that we will be more competitive on the field as that depends on buying the right players and the Manager getting them playing well.Pretty good post on the whole but the only thing that makes no sense is the statement that the stadium makes us more competitive. New stadium is pointless mate, just an ENIC revenue scheme. I've won the CL with Orient in FM, it just takes someone that wants to win football matches and not balance sheets. The increased revenue from the new stadium allows us to be more competitive in the transfer market including wages and keep our best players. That is no guarantee that we will be more competitive on the field as that depends on buying the right players and the Manager getting them playing well.
Let's hope we see that in the summer. The increased revenue from the new stadium allows us to be more competitive in the transfer market including wages and keep our best players. This Amazon doc is gonna be fucking mental.
Couple of episodes of Levy publicly selling Poch out. Couple of episodes of weird grey skinhead Jose taking apart his corby trouser press.
And then the rest of the season is Sissoko doing kick ups with a bog roll in his living room
Absolute scenes in Episode 7 when the social media team "Live Stream" the Pikeys game from 07 and Stalteri scores the winner.
