Not by the government, but I would have thought that owners of a private stadium can make it a rule of access if they wish.

They may be able to argue that they did that with the warning on the original email about dire consequences (or whatever it was) for anyone caught transferring their tickets. That was enough for me to not take the risk.

Mate just text to say they were scanning and checking every ticket by hand. Glad I didn’t risk it and hand mine off to a mate.

I agree. I doubt very much that anything will happen, especially given that there will soon (before Palace?) be a legit way to transfer your ticket to a mate or family member.
