Club RELEGATION 2023

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Leicester have been a disaster all season and have been getting worse as the season progresses. They went from being a well run club to being a shit show in only a few years.
It goes to show that clubs can never take their foot of the gas & think that they are ok.
The Premier League is a very tough gig with lots of clubs like Brentford, Brighton Fulham improving all the time.
They also diverted heavily from their business model (buy cheap and develop players and sell 1-2 for good money every summer) and tried to keep players around instead to build a winning team (sound familiar?).

But the difference between us and Leicester is that Leicester were propped up by their owner instead of generating income in multiple ways like we do. So once the pandemic hit their owners tax free businesses tanked.

We could and still can eat some bad contracts not working out and an iffy transfer window here or there. Leicester cannot.

They got fucked over by a perfect combo of bad decisions and the pandemic. We are lucky in that regard cause it could have been us had we been unlucky.

Saints, Leeds, Leicester in that order is my prediction.

Saints already basically down

Leeds how the worst run in by far and a championship level side.

Leicester just look awful and Forrest have the easier run between the two.

I think 37 points will keep you safe this season so basically Leeds and Leicester have to not lose a game all season now and Leeds with the awful GD have to win them all.

Sounds exactly like Brighton. Only takes a few bad decisions (as we full well know) before it all unravels.

Yeah. It is a model that can take you to a certain level, but as we have seen with Leicester and with us, trying to move to the top level can be a struggle and you risk slipping back down the table.

Not saying that buying cheap and selling high doesn't work on the top level. But you need an extra level of football and business savvy to make it work the further up the table you go. Liverpool did that really well for a while. A lot of smart "cheap" purchases slotted in between the Van Dijk and Allison blockbusters. And even they hit a stumbling block eventually.

Actually want Leicester to go down, cheeky bastard fans have always had a thing for Spurs ever since they won the league, the fans really deserve a humbling.

Was reading an article on sky pinpointing where it all went wrong for Leicester this season.
The biggest one has to be at Roger’s door for allowing them be in a position to start the season with two goalkeepers with only one premiership game between them.
That ward lad was a joke.

And Rodgers had been saying for a few years that he had two number ones with Schmeichel and Ward. Almost enough on its own to question everything about Rodgers with that severe a misjudgment over that long a time scale.

I'd compare them to Saints. They too are a one club City, with a new build 30,000 stadium. Saints were the go-to for how to run an academy, some good choices as manager. But as soon as they fecked up with a new manager they were in danger. Then 2 relegations. Another one coming up now through lack of investment and again an appalling choice of manager from Luton.

Brighton have a really good succession plan for every manager and every player they might lose. I think Bloom's company developed the software they use to grade potential players. They had good success with Potter, ditto de Zerbi. Their latest striker, Ferguson, looks the dogs. 18 yrs old, Irish, and looks a better prospect than Troy P.

I think they could survive a few miss steps.

I think having Paul Barber as CEO at Brighton has also been a factor - worked at The FA and Spurs before heading up an MLS franchise in Vancouver and joining Brighton 10 years ago, so he's got the knowledge (including marketing and finance) of running clubs, and getting finance together to build their stadium. Probably a major factor in appointing managers at Brighton as well.

Yeah good point

He gets quite a few mentions down here with the fans (I live Birghton now)

Apparently not the most pleasant of people but well respected for doing things well

Bloom - Barber - de Zerbi, quite an impressive combo

Notts Forest 4- 3 Southampton. So close but so far for Southampton

Southampton 8 points from safety with only 24 points, certainties to go down with 3 games left. Their remaining matches - Fulham (H), Brighton (A) and Liverpool (H).

3 Remaining matches to see who else is relegated :
Notts Forest - (33 points, GD -31 ) - Chelsea (A), Woolwich (H), Palace (A)
Everton - (32 points, GD -21 ) - Mancity (H), Wolves (A), Bournemouth (H)
Leicester- (30 Points, GD - 15 ) - Liverpool (H), Newcastle (A), Wham (H)
Leeds - (30 points, GD - 25 ) - Newcastle (H), Wham (A), Spurs (H)

Leeds and Leicester look most at risk. Leicester's best hope of survival might be their GD

Southampton officially relegated after a 2-0 loss to Fulham

Leeds and Notts Forest both draw 2-2 to gain a point against Newcastle and Chelsea respectively, so both now on 31 points.

Leicester play a game on Monday, at home to Liverpool, so no changes in the guesses of which 2 clubs will be relegated alongside Southanpton from this weekend's games is likely

Leicester beaten 3-0 at home by Liverpool tonight.

Southampton relegated so leaves 2 to join them with 2 games to go - leaving Notts Forest as most likely of the three to survive as they have 3 points advantage on Leeds.

So most likely 2 of the other 3 to go down, with Leicester probably the most likely to go down as they are 2 points from safety and 2 games to go.

Notts Forest - (34 points, GD -31 ) - Woolwich (H), Palace (A)
Everton - (32 points, GD -24 ) - Wolves (A), Bournemouth (H)
Leeds - (31 points, GD - 25 ) - Wham (A), Spurs (H)
Leicester- (30 Points, GD - 18 ) - , Newcastle (A), Wham (H)

It seems like Leicester have given up already and they certainly are not gonna win at Newcastle next week. Nothing suggests that they will finish the season strong and avoid relegation.

Fuck Leiectser.... This is for 2016... but I guess they'll join their little buddies Southampton in the Championship and spend the season bitching about us, and how they're gonna miss their 'North London Derbies' with Spurs!!!

Leeds might well stay up, purely 'cos they have an out of hours Sunday appointment with Dr Tottenham on the final day....

I reckon Forest will get summit on Saturday against Bottlenal, so that leaves Everton....
It would look SO weird to see them in the Championship, but you never know....?
Mind you, Everton probably have the more favourable remaining fixtures (Wolves & Bournemouth)

Realistically then, I think it's between Leeds and Forest to join our big big super rivals Leicester and Southampton...
