Player Rodrigo Bentancur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I’ve seen quite a few players take 12 months after they start playing to get back to their best following a serious knee injury.

Hopefully more to come
I said exactly this when he was returning - also 1/3 or so never fully recover the same form and intensity

He was nowhere near his best form last season, if he recovers he will be a massive asset to us

Bentancur was fantastic for Uruguay, took his goal superbly, got forward well first half and passed the ball superbly 2nd half and took his pen well also. Will be a real asset next season ing this form

Bentancur,Gray and Bergvall as a midfield three has energy, class and athleticism. All mobile as fuck. Add in the options of Madders,Sarr and Bissouma is a very good midfield with different attributes. If we could add Eze into that plus a top striker and wide player then we could do things next season.

Question...

Is everyone now good with him now since he played so well last night? Or, are we still grabbing our torches and pitchforks to run him out of town?

Because I know yesterday we didn't want anyone that would throw a bottle into the stands during a melee associated with our club. A group of us would rather have a guy who bets on games he is playing in and doesn't see why it is a problem.

I don't want Toney and I'm hugely down on people that hurling bottles into crowds full of women and kids. Do I get a vote? If we can get better he can go.

Sure, you absolutely get to have an opinion.

It just seems that there was been a complete 180 in this thread since the 3rd place match last night.
Not me. He's twice the player Hojbjerg is and half the man. We got a Paratici fixer up special but there are a few very decent talented CM in Europe we could get that are easily his match. It's a third place playoff...against Canada ffs

I have no issue with him. I’m good with him.

I'm torn. Throwing two bottles filled with ice into a crowd of people is genuinely fucked up behaviour. I don't care if it's plastic, if it hits you in the wrong place it it can cause serious damage and one of them bloody up someone's face. What if it had hit a child? Ask yourself how you'd react if it had been a Woolwich player, Martinelli or Partey or someone. We'd all be calling them the scum of the Earth.

On the other hand he's clearly been in a difficult place the past 18 months what with his injuries and loss of form, and the other night it was clear he'd lost his head partly cause he'd thought he'd picked up another really bad injury. So I'm willing to give him some leeway, but the club needs to get him some mental help sharpish and we can't be dealing with any more of this batshit behaviour from one of our more senior players going forward. He's had his three strikes, basically.
