Actually that is what Bentancur normally does, which Bissouma rarely does. So I respectfully disagree with your assessment.

We were losing some control before that. We were tiring from an I tense 60 minutes, it’s why Bentancur got hooked, he was starting to wheeze.
And it’s when we have the ball at the back/keeper and want to play out quickly - to set Son and Johnson isolated against their FB’s and Bentancur is hiding because he doesn’t want the ball under pressure that it’s a problem.
And there is no way we get that third goal with Bentancur out there, he wouldn’t have been able to keep up with the guy running away from him with the ball, Bissouma not only catches him up, wins the ball, then sets us off on counter.
Bentancur was decent today, like I said when all the game was in front of him, no problem but he’s not Bissouma.
And Madison also did a hell of a lot of work with the ball today in deeper areas as well as forward areas.

His best showing for a long while, he looked utterly gassed after an hour but he showed that the old Bentancur is still alive.
I'm in Bissouma's camp, but he's just too streaky. Also stupid picking up a yellow at first possible opportunity

No he didn’t, he ran forwards and pressed somebody, that was good but a completely different thing.
And in fact he stepped in multiple times to ensure there was no need for a last ditch tackle today.
Bentancur doesn't scream MENSA either.
He has a habit of giving away yellow cards totally unnecessarily. Classy player but needs to check himself.
It's a 6 to 12 match ban so that means 12 matches. It'll start when Biss picks up enough yellows for a ban or gets injured.
I don't think Bentancur's case is too far removed from the Cavani precedent in 2021. From the BBC article at the time re Cavani:
"...in imposing the minimum punishment for using insulting and/or improper language, the commission noted in mitigation that Cavani and United "have taken steps to ensure that the player has a greater understanding of his responsibilities on social media".
The commission wrote: 'The unique circumstances and facts of this player's case were of such significance that a departure from the standard minimum was justified in order to avoid an unjust outcome.' ... Along with the ban and fine, Cavani must also complete a "face-to-face" education programme."
They gave him 3 weeks and that was after the current 6-12 week sanction guideline was brought into effect in 2020, so the same rules apply here. I would think 3 weeks for Bentancur would be in line with that precedent.
