Cassanova and Haysman the only two Year 2 Academy players involved - and in the bottom half of abilities in that year group.

The top 4 players in that year group however are Dane Scarlett (training with first team), Alfie Devine (training with u21's), Roshaun Mathurin (injured) and Jordan Hackett (injured) - so the best players in that year group not available for u18's and that's why u18's are predominantly the first years who have only recently started training on a full time basis.

RE Bennett :

J'Neil Bennett scores ........ as does Troy Parrott

from Crewe site :

J’Neil Bennett’s directness from the left flank proved the difference with the on-loan youngster from Tottenham forcing home the first goal via a deflected own goal after 10 minutes and then killing the game off with a forceful run and finish with just three minutes left.

Just saw the goals, first was lucky but a good run, second decent. Will be fully of confidence, hope he can keep it going!

Tuesday 21 September @ 19.00 Spurs u21's play Cambridge United in the Papa John's trophy - pitching the youngsters against a mens team, one of the first times some of the youngsters will have played against non -youth opposition. And a decent sized crowd of largely Cambridge supporters.

Excellent for their development.

On Wednesday is the first team's Carabao match v Wolves, but with a fairly full squad of first team players, I don't think Nuno will involve youngsters, so expect a full team of u21's.

This was u21's last line up :

Oluwayemi, Matthew Craig, Cesay, Lyons-Foster (c), Fagan-Walcott, Omole, Clarke (Santiago 77), White, Markanday, John (Pedder 85), Devine.

Substitutes (not used): Lo-Tutala, Lavinier.

Article on football insider(not the best source) saying that Elliot Thorpe’s move to Hoffenheim collapsed because they could not agree on a compensation fee. Apparently we offered him a contract so we should get compensation. I thought there was a standard 300k Euros in these cases but obviously not. He has not signed a new contract with us and so is a free agent. Doesn’t make much sense as you would think we are still entitled to some compensation..
His career is wasting away if he doesn’t get sorted .

I think there is a standard fee between English clubs based upon factors such as games played, age etc, but not between English and overseas clubs where FIFA have rules in place regarding compensation, but it does require some negotiation.

His agent should be actively trying to find him a club (and the agent knows the fee) or advising him to sign a new contract, possibly with a loan agreed, if no club can be found.

Elliot Thorpe was technically very good but very slight when he arrived at Spurs but has grown enormously with his growth spurts limiting the amount of playing time he had - I think its only in ythe last half of last season where he started to play very much and with his new physique started to look a player in driving forward. Difficult to assess how good he might become due to so little playing time and covid minimising the games he could be seen in.

As you say, his career is wasting away if he is without a club
