Man I thought I was a miserable bastard
You could make Snow White sound like straw dogs
I've been looking at those 3 over 30s this morning and thinking about Poch...

A coach who's best 2 seasons at Spurs were with an outfield average age of under 25. Fit, hungry, impressionable players. No massive stars.
Then I think about the summer of 2018 and his line "it's hard to upgrade this squad" and wondering why or how. Those kind of signings (not Messi) must have been possible.

I very much doubt any of those 3 will play any form of high energy pressing football.
The question is, is Poch happy with it? Is he willing to play something different or is he going to struggle to get those players to play his football.

May actually be a turning point in his career. He may learn to adapt in order to win or he may refuse to adapt and be regarded as a one trick pony.

According to Grauniad blowhard Barry Glendenning, Leicester want to poach Tomiyasu from under our noses

Inter Milan are apparently in for Moise Kean from Everton.

With them signing Dzeko, negotiating a fee for Correra and now looking at Kean, I think Martinez is available. The owner is just trying to get signings in beforehand.

if poch doesn’t win a treble with that squad this season he’s destined for forever failure
I fear for Poch. If he doesn't win the Champions League, and dominate the league and cups in France, then he will be out of a job very soon.

I hope he does have some success. Not usually one to care once a player/manager moves on, but I have soft spot for Poch.

I dunno, I feel like that team could probably win Ligue 1 without a manager. All Poch has to do is get them through the CL somehow, and with that squad they should be going deep (tonnes of CL winning experience); I mean who has a better team on paper than that?

Training sessions are going to be tough on Poch and Jesus to keep all these entitled players in line and get them to play the way you want. They will have their own way they want to play try asking Neymar and Messi to press every game next season.
Getting Neymar to press and track back won't be too big of an issue. He's always been decent at that. Messi however is a different matter.

Ramos becoming a key locker room figure could possibly help Poch if those two can get along. Ramos may act like a cunt, but he was always the guy who helped keep Real Madrid in check. He's got a lot of experience herding cats.

Re: Ramos - Turning up there and calling the shots is very different to growing into being the respected leader over time like he did at RM.

Seeing the Zakaria links , 2 things :

1) Very injury prone - WARNING SIGN
2) Do we actually need him? Where will he play , won't he play where Skipp/Hojbjerg will play?

Maybe one to get at the end of the window if we say sell Winks but honestly other priorities rn.
His injury record (so yes his injury record is a bit of a worry):

19-20 season I watched a fair bit of Martinez and I was pretty underwhelmed, baring in mind the hype. I get he's got some moves and whatnot, and he produced slight better numbers last season, but he was very very dependent on Lukaku to do the heavy lifting - he very much seems like a guy who needs someone like Lukaku up there next to him to thrive.

So either we keep Kane and play them as a pair 442/352 - and then what happens to Son and also the AM's (Gill for example) or we sell Kane and play Martinez and who ?

Maybe we (Paratici/Nuno) see him as an inverted wide forward left forward in the 433, and I'd be ok with that notion, but that's pretty much where Son plays, who we've just given a bumper new contract to?

I just think we have the Martinez remit pretty much covered by Son don’t we? Surely we could spend this kind of money better, on a position where we have s bigger issue.

Martinez would make more sense to me if we were selling Son?
Spot on BC. Another year another "Dybala" head fake. This guy would get killed as the lone man in the PL (a la Werner) and getting the best out of him would necessitate playing with a big guy or casting Sonny aside. Very underwhelming stuff from our new man with a plan Paratici. But it does follow our typical opportunistic recruitment pattern, big name + financially struggling club + easily impressed supporters = great transfer.

What say you on this Vlahovic guy? I didn't watch a single Fiorentina game last season as my football life was sucked outta me.

Also, Bayern are in for some 21yo French winger. Do you know anything about this? He's not even in Ligue 1 (or the Messi-ligue if you like) so it was surprising.... I'll try and find the story to see which shit, true-farmer's ligue team he plays for but the deal was for 10-15M so he must have some talent.

Whilst I don't rate Sanchez as a top defender, I don't think he's as bad as some people believe.

Over the last 2 seasons, how often have we actually had a settled back 4? Between Alderweireld, Rodon, Dier and Sanchez there has never been consistency in a starting pair. Add to that the 2 full backs changing quite often.

If the right offer, like the swap with Sevilla, comes in then yes, sell him. But I'm happy to keep him for early cup and European games.

However, it is paramount we sign another centre back, and if that means selling Sanchez or Dier, then do it.
I think the fee also factors in. It was a lot of more for seriously poor returns.

I guess one of the frustrations with Sanchez is there is seemingly no progress or learning from mistakes at all. If anything, he has regressed. He’s also failed to develop as a ball-player too.

If we’re going to play an error prone CB it should be Tango or Rodon who might be able to show linear progress from the experience.

For me, there’s zero hope of Sanchez developing into an elite defender. You might think I’m being harsh but he’s at Phil Jones levels.

This basically sums my thoughts up. I always found him surprisingly shocking, but of course he was so young and everyone held hope that he would mature as a defender... but he hasn't.

We've lost enough time on the Davison Sanchez experiment. Let him move to Italy where the ball moves a bit slower and in three years he'll probably be considered a monster that Spurs will be stupid to have let go, but he's just not going to work in this league and at this club.
