An "option" is fine but not an obligation.
That's fucking stupid if Levy signs off on an obligation to buy.

I have a royal decree from Her Majesty's Chartered Institute of Linguists that entitles me to be so...Bloody hell, I didn't realise you were so loquacious, nay verbose.
Just because it hasn't happened with past loans doesn't mean it can't be done. If anyone can get creative with this stuff, it's definitely Daniel. There will probably be a specific timeframe in which the sell-on fee will apply, e.g. if Barca sell him the summer his loan is over. Or there may be an option to extend the loan at our discretion, at which point a buy clause can be inserted. Or it could be that we just loan him in for a year and that's all there is to the loan agreement. I guess we'll find out more soon.Sounds creative; but not something I'm concious of happening with loans in the past.
Agree but that's a massive shame if true. I really hoped the LCB was the drastic improvement on the first 11 (and yes I know Davies played well last season).Still think Lenglet takes Rodon's spot on the bench all season.
Conte won't fix him, he won't play that often, we won't keep him.

Its a stop gap deal - and a good one.
Conte has been looking for a ball playing CB - we did not get our primary targets (Bastoni/Gvardiol)
We do see that the primary targets should be available next season.
It seems we are playing the long game. Usually we go down the pecking order & spend the budget on a avg player who will prove average - and we will look to move that player in season or 2.
Instead, we looked at the numbers and see Lenglet does have some superior ball qualities (in some aspect better than Bastoni) - may be FP, Conte took a bold bet to give him a better environment, better protection in midfield and see if he responds.
This is not first time, Conte goes into a new club and brings in a questionable defender. In 2016, his first signing at Chelsea was David Luiz , Conte helped Luiz hide his weakness in his back3 system; then went on to win the PL
I am sure by this summer windows ends, we will agree a loan with options for Lenglet.
Spence and lenglet look like guys we have done deals but we are waiting to see if we can get someone better.
Lenglet might not be the only one we sign.Agree but that's a massive shame if true. I really hoped the LCB was the drastic improvement on the first 11 (and yes I know Davies played well last season).
It's not ideal, but it does have some value. Some games you will need a CB that's good with the ball. Others you will need one that is solid defensively. Until you get the one that is good at both, you have two and pick the right one depending on the opponent. And let's not forget that Lenglet can also play in the middle, so you get some cover there too.Agree but that's a massive shame if true. 5 goals in 14 in "Europe"When he plays for a pub team he scores goals.
At United he had some good players around him, but 2 in 33, absolute shite

I still feel Spence gets done. I have no basis for that feeling other than it just being a gut feeling.
If I'm wrong I'll donate 50p to TFC
then it begs the question "why bother?" if we're not keen we're not going to show him the love he clearly needs. If he does turn thing around we will enter a bidding war for him next season. Very weird one without a buy option IMHOif that's true it kind of shows how little we care about this deal imo.
Barca are absolutely desperate to shift him and we're not even bothered to insert an 'option' clause.
