Is a good start. But nothing to move the needle. Senesi, Robbo
It's an ok start (still not confirmed yet).
One is replacing Ben Davis and will likely to split time with Udogie which means Souza will need a loan.
Senesi is all left foot so assume he is VDV's replacement.
Which means we need another left sided CB to cover Senesi
Vuskovic will hopefully start in Romero's place and Danso becomes his backup.
Dragusin surplus to requirements so Phillips can be 5th choice CB.

Yes they are taken per 90 but if you are playing competitively more regularly then you find rhythm and shake the rust off. Playing here or there for late sub appearances etc is very difficult especially for young players.

I hope we sign him, think he will be great at spurs under RDZ. I think he has the attributes to be world class potential and if he played in France or Spain or somewhere he'd be getting rave reviews with more people wanting him

We can agree to disagree

Why do you think Savinho isn't playing more regularly, there's a big clue that tells you everything about his ability and where he is right now.

The thing is with him he was getting rave reviews when he played for Girona because he did well in Spain, but he's been brutally exposed in the Premier League and even playing for a team like City who are always on the front foot he can't get going.

I'd only bring him in if we were paying £25m max and on the condition we'd bring someone else in as well (Summerville ;) ) the only upside is that he has a unique profile and can hug the touchline, means that we can play with inverted full backs, someone like Djed would thrive playing with him because he'd create a load of space.

City brought him in from girona then completely ripped up how he plays from the left as an expressive and unpredictable player and pep moves him to the right and restricts his game with his type of football.
Pep rarely plays with proper wingers. Foden, cherki, Silva.
We would use him high and wide, isolate his fullback and he would beat him 1v1 which is where he excels and deliver.

We can all have our opinions and time will tell. I can understand when people looks at stats that its not great but then again our own Gareth Bale had terrible stats until he was moved to his best position on the left wing and he lit up the world and took off.

I think ENIC will be sh!t scared with what nearly happened and the fear that would accompany De Zerbi suggesting a lack of backing.

What I don't think we will see is De Zrrbi making unrealistic demands, yet.

I expect to 7 to 9 signings and will be staggered if it's much less than that.

Gallagher won't be sold, is a favorite of De Zerbi and over the last three games has played as well as at any time at Cheslea.

He won't cause any "issues" aside from what the conspiracy theorists in here rant on about.

No conspiracy, just struggle to see how he really works within the squad

And I wouldnt bank on being too sure about who RDZ really likes, the summer will show a lot of that. To now he has been doing whatever it takes to stay up - so Im not sure I fully believe much of what he has said about players to date

I think you might be overthinking it a bit.

If we view Gallagher as a guaranteed starter then, yes, there's a potential issue there as you describe

But as a squad player I think he's absolutely fine. Can cover at 10 and 8 when we need him. Can come off the bench to provide energy, can start as a super aggressive pressing 10 in games where that's a tactical solution.

He's a useful player to have in the squad and, while that's a lot of salary to spend on a squad player and certainly not the wisest allocation of funds, I think he will always have his uses and won't be a burden unless he starts demanding to start every week.

Relative to other big clubs we don't have many players on massive wages, so we can probably afford to overpay a couple of players. We do need to be careful not to get carried away with wages like United did, though.

I think this is it.

He is a big buy, big wages, England intl, its a statement buy

And in the context of him as a first 11 player I just dont see where/how he fits

In the squad? Sure, very useful

This isn't strictly true, this season he's played mostly as a LW in his favored position and actually performed worse than last season.

I just don't see the appeal when Summerville can already play as a two way winger and he's much more consistent than Savinho

Supposedly a decently reliable Napoli journalist.

Vergara is a 10. 23 years old.

I watch so little football these days every single one of these links Im like "who the fuck is that, never heard of him, is he any good?!"

Feel like a song on repeat...

That's probably the best explanation actually, especially if the club feel like it might take a few months to get the new DoF in the door. We've seen in the past how those deals can take time with guys needing to give notice or whatever.
Whichever way you cut it this summer is a compromise in terms of dof/player trading

In an ideal world new dof would have come in after January window and had 4 months to get their feet under the table. Evaluate the squad, line up some sales, work with RDZ on targets... Such that NOW we can leap into action.

Now? New Dof comes in, needs to do all of that before they can look at THEIR buys/moves/business.

But its already the end of May.

So whatever happens we'll be working off of Lange targets, Paraticis old post its, our favourite agency and whatever is needed to keep RDZ happy...

We should've really been lining someone up well in advance. I suppose we did with Kehl but that's gone suspiciously quiet. Maybe second thoughts over that deal since De Zerbi's arrived? And it's gonna take a while to line up an alternative?

I think youre right. I think, as seems to be the norm now, the club are making it up as they go along and reacting to circumstance day to day.

Looked very much like Kehl was a done deal, waiting to be announced.

Suddenly its reported we are after a "World class dof" .

I think Lange has become the sacrificial lamb to cover Vinais ass - and again the sands are shifting....

Cannot see why people are happy with this. 29 year old with only 3 caps and not in Argentina WC squad. Whilst at the same time happy to let go Romero, younger, more caps & much better player.

One player seemingly wants to be here, one doesn't.

One player has come off the back of a good season, one hasn't.

I like Romero but it's time for him to leave the club.

Not a direct replacement, that will be Vuskovic or if we loan him again possibly Van Hecke. Senesi is a better left sided cover than Dragusin struggling on the wrong side or Ben Davies. It also allows us to move VDV to left back sometimes. Romero just misses too many games and carries too much baggage.

Danso will be our starting CB with VDV I reckon with Senesi used heavily in rotation. Or vice versa. Romero is a massive liability and he’s not captain material. There’s more to football then their skills with the ball and I think his time has past at Spurs. I also think Danso is a better defender
