Cannot see why people are happy with this. 29 year old with only 3 caps and not in Argentina WC squad. Whilst at the same time happy to let go Romero, younger, more caps & much better player.

Romero far too inconsistent to be worth it.

Senesi is a very good defender and his ball playing ability is probably one of the reasons we signed him.

He rarely passes backwards or sideways - he’s always looking to move the ball forward quickly and is very good at that. Well suited to a De Zerbi system imo.

Obviously he’s free…which helps! Keeps money for other positions.

Astute signing and done early which is also great.

Why do you think Savinho isn't playing more regularly, there's a big clue that tells you everything about his ability and where he is right now.

The thing is with him he was getting rave reviews when he played for Girona because he did well in Spain, but he's been brutally exposed in the Premier League and even playing for a team like City who are always on the front foot he can't get going.

I'd only bring him in if we were paying £25m max and on the condition we'd bring someone else in as well (Summerville ;) ) the only upside is that he has a unique profile and can hug the touchline, means that we can play with inverted full backs, someone like Djed would thrive playing with him because he'd create a load of space.

Im not excited about Savinho at all

If he comes in, obviously Ill be hoping he is worth all the hype, but as it stands he just looks to me like another Tel/Odobert type

(both of whom I really like, but Id rather a more "complete" player come in ahead of them)

Problem with judging him is.... its City. I mean, "he doesnt play much", well of course - Doku, Foden, Cherki, Marmoush.....

Thats before the Pep factor which seems to nerf players like Savinho - so I just think its hard to call and probably an unfair argument

The bigger concern for me is, no matter how talented he was at Girona, he has basically had 2 years off of his development.

That kind of stall in a young player can completely change their developmental trajectory, and I would be worried he might never get back on that original momentum he had

Not a direct replacement, that will be Vuskovic or if we loan him again possibly Van Hecke. Senesi is a better left sided cover than Dragusin struggling on the wrong side or Ben Davies. It also allows us to move VDV to left back sometimes. Romero just misses too many games and carries too much baggage.
Did Senesi start all season for Bmouth?
Weird he would agree to be VDV's back up tbh. Surely if he was that good, another PL or European side could offer him a starting role?

If his name was Steve from Bromsgrove and played wearing bog standard black Umbros with no tape on his ankles, we wouldn't be having this conversation

Those stats are taken per 90.

You're right stats don't tell the full story that's why if you watch both of them it's obvious Summerville is much more well rounded and polished than Savinho.

At this stage I'm convinced that people rate Savinho because he has a Brazilian sexy name and he plays for Man City so he must be good - 2 goals in 53 matches FIFTY THREE, come on man what are we doing here? 😆

Nope - it's because the season before last he was one of the top assisters in the league and was unplayable on his day.

He was criminally underused last season by Pep.

These things cant and will.never be able to account for the team said players have around them.

3 things. 1) Some of them (statsbomb for example) do make adjustments based on the team players play in and that team's style. I honestly don’t know if footverse do that, but 2) you can, to a degree, apply your own knowledge for context. 3) or you can just see it for what it is, unbiased data and ignore it.

I think ENIC will be sh!t scared with what nearly happened and the fear that would accompany De Zerbi suggesting a lack of backing.

What I don't think we will see is De Zrrbi making unrealistic demands, yet.

I expect to 7 to 9 signings and will be staggered if it's much less than that.

Well we’ve got two already so I do think we’ll get 4-5 more in.

Is a good start. But nothing to move the needle. Senesi, Robbo
I think a big part of what we need to do is actually balance the squad.

Dragusin does not look comfortable as cover for VDV, so moving him on and replacing him with Senesi makes a lot of sense.

There is a clear need to make us better at fullback as Spence can’t be the cover for both sides. Robertson gives us that and brings some maturity to the squad.

The signings make a lot of sense as we need to stop having square pegs in round holes.

If you look at what RDZ has said about Gray and Bergvall, it’s basically we need to find a position for them and coach them to play that role. It’s a big part of why he took them out of the team at the end of the season. I’ll bet both get defined roles and a lot of game time next season.

It’s this sort of understanding and building that we have sorely missed and has let us become a collection of individuals rather than a team. Hopefully we continue to keep this in mind as we invest in key areas.

The season before where he scored 1 goal, great.

You said yourself that savinho had better shooting stats than summerville didnt you? Thats contradicting youre case here if so imo.

Pep murdered another winger. For 50m or under its a good deal, were not getting diomande, barcola, yildiz BUT savinho has that level in him imo.

Im sure if he'd been playing an entire season elsewhere like Brighton, palace or Bournemouth many more people would want him.

Ive said enough, no more lol
