They could offer us €90m with add-ons and it's still only 77m.

Just pay the fee.

It seems the problem is Levy hasn't set a price. That's why this shit drags on, clubs don't know where the limit is

Even if Levy says 130 mill pounds at least it gives the club an idea of how far they have to go and might just quicken the whole shitty process.

If we weren't happy with any fees quoted for Tapsoba - I am surprised we didn't try and go for Bassey, who Fulham have just signed.

I didn't catch him at Ajax - but I was always impressed when I watched him for Rangers. Especially during that run to the Europa League final. Was in the Leicester academy, so he may even have counted as HG, left footed, also capable of playing left back.
Probably makes us regret it at Fulham

Looks like my fears are all coming through. Ange leaves Celtic where he was revered, bad news as a Celtic fan. He comes to Spurs where, no doubt, Levy will do as he did to every other manager and shaft him too. Didn't think it would happen so fast mind you, but looks like club hero, supreme goal scorer HK could be for the exit and no matter how much we get for him, I have no faith in our board investing the money wisely. Our CB problem has been clearly evident for yrs now, yet the season is just around the corner and it shows no sign of being resolved. The football side of the club is run like amateur hour, has been for yrs and shows no sign of improving.

We had CL for 7 years was it. They still spent more than us plus their wage bill dwarfed ours

I can handle that because until recently they spent money as poorly judged as we did …. But they’ve had some top class young players come through and spent fairly impressively

They’ve bought the best English CM and they’re going to challenge

All we re asking is for 2 decent CBs …. Get the right ones and I think we’re close enough to them

Don’t address it or cheap out and it’ll show what we’re all about
lol fix. You love hitting me up for my gooner spend approximations

Every time. I swear I was waiting for it

Post it up for me mate so this dullard stops the proclivity for exaggeration

I think the price for Kane has been clear for years and it starts at 100m

Yup. For any transfer, three parties have to be agreeable to the idea: Buying club (a gimme), selling club and player. Let’s ignore the added complexity of agents.

For Bastoni:
Buying club — Yes
Selling club — Yes
Player — No.

Now let’s apply what we’ve learned to this year’s targets:

Tapsoba
Buying club — Yes
Selling club — No
Player — Unknown but probably yes. .

Tosin
Buying club — Yes
Selling club — Yes
Player — No ( according to latest reports)

VdV
Buying club — Yes
Selling club — Indications are Yes but reluctantly.
Player — Indications are Yes.

Lenglet
Buying club — Yes but reluctantly
Selling club — Yes
Player — Yes.

I don’t think it’s going to take a genius to figure out the more likely recruits. Of course there are other CBs in the mix like Nelsson and Ibanez but links are tenuous and we don’t really have any additional information.
The mechanics are right, but with respect to Tapsoba, we can change those mechanics by either meeting their asking price or giving them favourable terms.

It's possible that the mechanics of the Tosin news could be different if we showed greater interest.

I could go on, but what I'm aiming at are that there are certain dynamics that we can influence, whilst there are others we can't. Bastoni is a prime example of those where we can't, Tapsoba is perhaps one where we most probably can. I don't think Tapsoba is particularly fussed either way, hence his silence, so it appears that we need to change the dynamic with just the one party.

None of us really know. What we do know though is that we've identified him as our primary CB target and, as such, I expect us to get that over the line. I don't care if it's more than we wanted to pay, if he's the primary target then you either pay what the selling club is asking for, or you structure a deal to make it very difficult for them to say no. The player and agent part is already taken care of.

I'm trusting that the right player has been identified to improve our first 11. I'd rather that than look to bring in 2 lesser players that 'may' do the job.

Worry about 'cover' etc AFTER you've secured your primary target.
