How Dry should our Powder be?

Obviously Isak is better technically.

But Richy is good in both boxes despite not being a better overall footballer. And I think that’s as important if not more when it comes to being effective.

That’s literally all I’m saying.

The reason I defend this point so much is because I think it’s gets overlooked a lot.

If he got sold and we bought Isak I wouldn’t complain.

I'm hearing you mate.

For the job he has to do as our striker, Richy has been effective.

For those worried about Toney's mindset....

“He cares massively,” Frank says. “I don’t watch many interviews so I don’t know how he comes across. I just see it every single day and I see how he cares. He is a big part of why we have such a good culture and a positive mindset with demands and a desire to win.

“His emotional intelligence is so big. He is the top dog. The way he comes around to everyone, staff, players, during a week. The energy and positivity he brings is quite unique.”

I don't know if I'd want him, just from a footballing perspective... But this is an important point you're making.

All the negative perception of his attitude and how he speaks about Brentford in interviews is very much external.

However, when he came back from his ban, the reaction from those from within Brentford, the staff, players, fans etc, was one of complete affection and happiness. And those are the ones who are most familiar with him.

It wouldn't completely shock me if he stays there, providing Frank does too.

He’s clearly liked and is a big personality and leader in their dressing room.
I think we need more of this type and for the footballing side of things I think if he came to us we’d get him at the peak of his powers. Yes he didn’t have a brilliant second half of the season only scoring 4 goals but he did miss a massive chunk of the season (which was his own doing).
He can do things most strikers can’t nowadays and that’s hold the ball up,bring others into play and link the game. He doesn’t rely on pace but his movement is very good. He’s a presence and centre halfs won’t enjoy playing against him. He can finish, good free kick taker and brilliant at penalties. The biggest thing for me is he knows the premier league and there would be no settling in period.

There’s so many more positives than negatives to Toney in my eyes. If we are in for him we should go now rather than him making an impact at the euros if anything happened to Kane.

Good example of where stats without context is pointless. I like Gallagher but Rice is levels above.

I agree about stats without context but those are impressive stats still.

What they don’t tell you is the timing or tactical relevance of each tackle, duel or pass. There isn’t a stat for reading the game.

But Gallagher is clearly a properly busy cunt and I’m slowly coming round to the idea. Just as long as it doesn’t stunt Sarr’s development. But they could probably play together in this system. We don’t really have distinct positions that way. There are jobs to be done and they could rotate and split them.

For me it's quite simple. Gallagher is a good player but not a priority.

There is an argument that he improves us and starts ahead of Bentancur/Sarr and he obviously improves squad depth.
That said, we have much more pressing issues in attack, at 6 and in full back coverage so the 40-50m can be better used elsewhere.

OK, I'm in.
He seems a bit raw and doesn't know his onions.
EPL will make mincemeat of him and he mayo not relish that.
What is the sauce for the rumours?

*cough*

Lettuce begin.

Isak is unbelievably clear. Much faster, can actually beat his man, his fundamental technicals are miles better (first touch, ability to just find space in the box etc) as a striker.

Richarlison is better aerially and he works harder, that is literally it. Isak is a much more top level footballer.
Think Rich cost a way bit more as well and also had PL experience for a number of years. We should have gone for isak after the WC.

I hear you.

Is there a #6 out there that we can get this summer though?

If you look at City and Real they have elite level #6's that dominate games. It's a position like striker and GK that you have to get right. If there isn't one we can get that we really want, I'm ok rolling with Biss and a healthy Bentancur for the season and adding a ball-winner and press machine at the 8 like Gallagher.

Especially because we lack some of the mentality Gallagher has and Hojberg is leaving. I'm no Hojberg fan but he's a great pro and brings the habits and confidence that you need when you have young kids in your squad.

FB coverage I get the feeling they want to tackle with versatile players. Calafiori for 30m is the dream because he covers CB and LB.

A bit concerning that we’ve basically got no names aside from Gallagher and Eze (both hugely expensive and likely protracted deals)
