If we ONLY sign him and he is our main wide forward purchase.
if we get rid of Gil, Solomon and Werner we will have space for a backup winger.
Would he be terrible for that?
Especially IF it would be to open the door for a non HG starting winger

Davies needs to goOf our squad last season it will likely only be 5 or 6 out, Emerson, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Gil, Solomon and not buying Werner. Sess was never fit and the rest will be the loanees, Spence, Rodon, Reggie Tanganga. So numbers wise similar, just hopefully with serious upgrades.
I’d listen to offers for all the forwards except Son unless a stupidly high bid comes in.Technically 6 in with Bergvall also joining up.
That gives us a defender (hopefully someone who can play two positions at the back like a Caliafori), two further midfielders (6 and 8), a winger and a striker.
And then fill the squad out when needed with the best young talent at the club to let them know they have a pathway and minutes (Donley, Hall, Moore)
Most of those outs will be those who have zero future here and have had no input under Ange at all anyway. Ndombele, Rodon, Spence, Tanganga, Reguillon to name half. Then I imagine Hojberg, Emerson and Lo Celso are guarantees and then if we get decent bids for Davies, Forster, Skipp, Richy they'll be moved on.
Supprised you have no eze or ollise in any of your lists. This is pretty much the shape of it as the best case scenario.
Let's say we are getting those positions done, these are the linked players so far:
CF
Gimenez
Toney
Guirassy
Marmoush
Evanilson
Openda
Gyokeres
WF
Williams
CHO
Summerville
Cherki
Eze
Kubo
Gudmundsson
Simons
MGW
8
Gallagher
Ederson
Wieffer
Ramsey
6
Burger
Ugarte?? was he actually linked?
Versatile Defender
Calafiori
Kelly
Chalobah
Cambiasso
Have I missed anyone?
Dream: Openda/Gyokeres, Williams, Gallagher, Ugarte, Calafiori
Realistically: Guirassy/Gimenez, Summerville/CHO, Gallagher, Burger, Chalobah
Bald Cunt: Toney/Gimenez, CHO, Gallagher,6, Kelly
I wouldn't read too much into it. This time last year Van der Ven was going to Liverpool (we weren't even linked) and Maddison looked like he was going to Newcastle. We hadn't been linked with Vicario yet either.Wow olise to Chelsea or man utd and we are after cho how depressing is that. Seen cerki linked too he's slower then kulu no thanks
Think really we are primed for a back 3 especially with the high line and the way our FBs push up. With a back 3 we have far more insurance for the FBs to go forward.Ange wouldn't change tack even when everything was falling apart around him. You think he's specifically going to recruit to a new system?
This is the problem, for me, with capital M Managers in the modern game. They all have their system/philosophy, rather than fitting the tactics to maximize the talent on hand.
Thing is would we pay 4/5 times more for him than what forest paid for him last season ?If we ONLY sign him and he is our main wide forward purchase.
if we get rid of Gil, Solomon and Werner we will have space for a backup winger.
Would he be terrible for that?
Ange wanted him so Prbly didn’t bother with all that other shit.well they clearly didnt watch enough of johnson. should of got enough visual data on him actually trying to play football in the final third, before weighing forest in 50m.
True, but Bissouma had a higher% of tackles in the attacking 3rd (15% v 9%) and less % in the defensive 3rd (40% v 46%) than Ederson. THey were very similar in the middle 3rd.Heat maps are deceiving, especially for central mids. Of course there are gonna be times when Bissouma ventures from his spot in front of the defence, doesn't mean he's not primarily a sitter and doesn't mean Ange doesn't use classic #6s.
Admittedly sometimes Sarr, Maddison, or Bentancur would rotate into the role in the build up to provide passing options and passing angles, and Biss would sometimes drop to the fullback role or advance up the pitch into the space vacated, but out of possession there would almost always be a sitting 6 there, and when Biss was on the pitch it was mostly him.
That’s why the assist stat is misleading. You could have a player beat 3 players then play in another player who then just simply squares it for another player to score. Who gets the assist? Normally there is always some else before the player who makes the final assist that does the hard work. Just imagine how many balls Glenn would have slide ruled dissecting defences to say waddle who then crosses the ball for Allen to score. Hence I don’t pay too much note of Johnson or Werner’s assist.without a doubt. as someone said earlier about modric. his stats dont look world class, you have to watch and understand to see what he does for his side.
We should start a book on the numbers in and out excluding loans.
He is exactly what we should be going for and need, proper quality. Instead we have Johnson, kulu, richi, timo abd orbly CHO.
Keep saying we need to buy proper quality which ollise is compared to the ave players we are interested in.Wow olise to Chelsea or man utd and we are after cho how depressing is that. Seen cerki linked too he's slower then kulu no thanks
True but the trophy cabinet don't lie or the history books. We get tagged spursy
The whole concept of backup options needs to stopIf we ONLY sign him and he is our main wide forward purchase.
if we get rid of Gil, Solomon and Werner we will have space for a backup winger.
Would he be terrible for that?
If we sign Hudson-Odoi then it shows we aren't interested in even creating a facade of ambition
It's funny when people say that spending big doesn't work blah blah or guarantee success blah blah to try and justify our cut price bargain hunting......Some people take this "it's all about scouting" argument too far and explain that money doesn't equate to quality. Then a few weeks later claim that we should care about top 4, stadium and hotels over a mickey mouse trophy because it allows us to attract better talent.
Being a well rounded #6 is more than where you're located on the pitch, or where you make your tackles.True, but Bissouma had a higher% of tackles in the attacking 3rd (15% v 9%) and less % in the defensive 3rd (40% v 46%) than Ederson. THey were very similar in the middle 3rd.
Other than the fact that we only have 3 reliable CBs so the first time VDV tweaks a hammy we're back to scrambling like mad and either playing someone not ready/out of position or changing tactics out of necessity.Think really we are primed for a back 3 especially with the high line and the way our FBs push up. With a back 3 we have far more insurance for the FBs to go forward.
The whole concept of backup options needs to stop
We should be looking to build a squad full of quality competition
Ask yourself, would City , Liverpool or Woolwich even think about Hudson-Odoi ?
These are the clubs we need to aspire to overtake
And the whole "do a job" mentality needs to change
