The whole concept of backup options needs to stop

We should be looking to build a squad full of quality competition

Ask yourself, would City , Liverpool or Woolwich even think about Hudson-Odoi ?

These are the clubs we need to aspire to overtake

And the whole "do a job" mentality needs to change

Woolwich's bench is not full of quality competition.

Smith Rowe, Nketia, Viera, Tomiyasu... would you take any of those?

Liverpools either to be honest in a few positions.

That's not to say we shouldn't be building a squad of quality competition but I don't know enough about CHO to know how well he will fit the mould of what ange wants in a winger.

I'm mostly concerned with getting players in that fit the roles in the system.

Have a look at Bissouma's heatmap this season and McGregors from last season. Ange doesn't play with a "sitting"#6.

We 100% do play with a sitting midfielder. Biss has been that guy every time he’s played. Sarr and madders in the more advanced left and right centre mids or 8s for the new age terminology types.

That’s why the assist stat is misleading. You could have a player beat 3 players then play in another player who then just simply squares it for another player to score. Who gets the assist? Normally there is always some else before the player who makes the final assist that does the hard work. Just imagine how many balls Glenn would have slide ruled dissecting defences to say waddle who then crosses the ball for Allen to score. Hence I don’t pay too much note of Johnson or Werner’s assist.
Yip,said that about Modric so many times.

Correct. Sign guys that will either take the guys who are in our starting 11’s place or challenge them to the point they have to perform. Signing back ups screams mediocrity and pretty much guaranteed failure. If the players who don’t play don’t like it then move them on. We have to stop this settle for good squad option shite. Guys like skipp, sess,Gil,Royal,Davies,Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and even Richy at a push need to moved on and replaced with players to challenge Porro,Dog,Biss,Sarr,Sonny,Bentancur,Johnson and Deki. If we replace them with ok players we stay 4th to 8th position. Fuck that shit.

Yeah but we KNOW that Toney is in a massive funk since coming back from his ban and in this league has never had a stretch as prolific as Guirassy since moving to Stuttgart. If you look at Guirassy's career as well he's had a real journey so he's used to adjusting and adapting to new situations.

I did some digging and tbh every level I dig, I'm encouraged by what I find.

Scouting video (clearly made by a Guirassy fan so context here)

Wasn't prolific before Stuttguart but was largely due to circumstances of getting injured and/or playing on really bad teams. As soon as he touched a team that created chances he was banging them in.

His numbers and video for finishing, build up, movement, and aerial duels are on par with Kane and Haaland and he's clearly that technical player that we lack to hold the ball and bring others in.

Defensive contribution is a big question mark! Can he still be as technical and time his movement when you add in the extra aerobic workload of pressing?

This was an interesting read as well. Rennes have a pretty good record for talent ID and the guy there (Stephens) was quoted as saying this which matches the video:

“It’s everything he does for the team, the runs he makes into space, the defensive work that he puts in, the way he puts himself about,”

He's been prolific for a good while now it seems:

"At the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, Guirassy had scored at a rate of one league goal every 144 minutes since the start of the prior campaign; that was better than players such as Victor Osimhen (148 mins), Neymar (148 mins), Son Heung-min (153 mins) and Kane (157 mins), and only marginally worse than Lionel Messi (143 mins)."

The rest of the article is just striker porn. There isn't an objective way to say that he's not statistically one of the best finishers and overall #9's in Europe. If we don't end up signing him, it will be Milan or Juve type of team and there's a really chance we'll all be sitting here next next season watching Toney or Gimenez look average and wondering why we "don't have good scouts".

TLDR: Sign fucking Guirassy for 17.5m you bald bastard. Even if he wants 190k pw and a 15m sign on bonus. Just fucking do it.

I like him. For 17 fucking mil, we could not go wrong. Even if he ends up as back up.

Everything we need with exception of a DCM is available in the premier league leagu.

Hate that some fans are proposing moves for unknown / unproven overseas player rather than just admit they hate Ivan Toney.

I don't think Chelsea and United are the benchmark for spending money wisely on players
It always makes me laugh when people use Chelsea as an example to justify their “spending money doesn’t always bring success” argument when they're only referring to the Chelsea of the last year. Have you seen Chelsea’s trophy cabinet in the period since we last won a trophy? What would you put that success down to?

United are probably the only club you could make a semi valid argument where there spending hasn’t equalled success but even at that they’ve won two League Cups, an FA Cup and a Europa League since 2013, all trophies were would give anything to get our hands on.

I don't know much about Hudson-Odoi other than he's 23 and just scored 8 prem goals in a team that just escaped relegation.

What I do know is most people on here were saying similar things and were pissed off when we were linked to Trossard and Gordon and they turned out to be pretty good buys...

Fully agree on signing players that push to start. Never sign a back up.

I don’t agree with you on CHO though because he’s 1000% talented enough to start for any of those teams in the next 2-3 years. Maybe those teams aren’t starting him now. We aren’t straight away because Son is our captain but ignoring the price tag, I could see CHO tearing it up for us whilst Son is injured and making it very tough to keep him out the team,

Not saying he’s the only player to look at but for example at a rival, he’s a comfortably better football player than Trossard imo and it’s not really close. Tbh I’d even say he’s probably better than Martinelli, who’s one of the most overrated players in the prem.

Get both and ship out one of kulu or Johnson to get some money in. We need quality rather than quantity. Then you promote some of our academy players who let’s face will show more bottle than say a Johnson.

We won’t be shipping out Johnson. So shut up.

Fuck please can you post something that’s not a load of shite. PLEASE.

And stop cunting moaning. It must be miserable as fuck being you.

In fact, blocked. I’m fed up of reading your nonsense. No idea why I’ve tolerated it this long tbh.

Bye Felicia
