I think 4th is a long shot now, Europa league qualification will be okay this season imo.
I think 4th is achievable. We don't play against one of the best footballers in history every week.
However, I don't think EL would be a catastrophe.
Going against my usual feelings about taking every competition seriously I think we could use EL like Redknapp did to blood a few of our exciting youth prospects and keep our reserves happier.

We're too inconsistent for 4th, doesn't really matter that much who the opposition is.

Agree. That worked out well this season. Exciting prospects like Scarlett, White and Sanchez are flourishing after inspiring us in the ECL

Plus travelling away to the Ukraine and Kazakhstan really dovetails well with Conte’s planning and prep for the PL. He’s a revelation in Europe and embraces the 2 day turnaround for league games

Here's a list of our best ever seasons. Look at the dates.

Natch.
8 of our 15 best points totals have been under ENIC since 2009. Half our best league totals in just 13 years.

Before 2009 there are no seasons in the previous 23 years and only one season in the previous 42 years that feature.

Tottenham have not been this good or this consistent since the 1960s and that is down to ENIC and their leadership of the club. Sorry if that upsets a vocal minority but I want to talk facts.

There are other facts, relevant to success than points totals. It’s a good gauge of PL consistency but would you prefer to do what Leicester did in 16 then finish 12th, or average a steady 5th?

I don’t think anyone is saying ENIC are truly awful, clearly they aren’t doing a bad job but after 21 years it’s time for a reboot. New CEO, sell a minority stake etc do something different ffs

Suspect most people around in the 80’s would say the football and ambition was far higher then too

Yeah perhaps some people are reasonably wondering whether something new, fresh impetus, might be nice. There are also a lot of people who have been banging the same drum for the best part of a decade, even whilst we have had one of our best teams ever.

Thé fruits of ENIC’s master plan must now bare fruit and a failure to invest significant sums into the playing squad will righty lead to criticism and I’ll be right there with you.

I would always rather consistent growth and success. Of course I’d love a lucky flash in the pan once in a while but I am more concerned about steady progress because in the long term that is what pays. Even the oligarch approach has risks when the owners get bored…or sanctioned. None of these money guys is a white knight - they’re all disgusting owners that other teams are willing to hold their nose for.

So no, I don’t want to be City or Chelsea or Leicester. I’d much rather go for success the way we are or (dare I say it) Woolwich. We should be proud of that.

Agree. But we need major investment that the stadium / club can’t generate alone - naming rights / minority stake sale needed to completely revamp things and arm Conte with 500M

I would welcome that investment.

But if that magic investment doesn’t come then I’ll keep focusing on incremental improvement.

We have gone backwards over the past couple of years but it’s just about possible to excused that with Covid and new stadium colliding. No excuses now.

How much do you think we will invest? Look at the P and L…. With zero owner investment, we can’t rustle up more than about 50-100M net which, assuming we raise another 50M from outgoings, still isn’t enough. Seriously, what are you expecting them to spend? We have to sort naming rights and or external investment after years of balancing

There are some weird eggs in this fan base

Enough for what?

Not enough to be challenging for the title but in what world is that realistic? Is it enough to give us a real shot at top 4? Yes.

Top 4 never seemed realistic at the start of this season to me - or at least not expected. So reestablishing us as CL team in 18 months would be a good outcome.

If we finish 5th or 6th and get Europa league I really really want us to give it a proper go and try and fucking win the thing!

Dynamo Zagreb was one of the most painful defeats in recent history!

In the past I thought yes we can win the Europa league, this lot I think can't win anything, not even the conference.

26 games is usually a good indicator of the team that end up in the top 5. Games in hand are skewing this league table though.

Guessing the NLD will be late in the season. Hopefully we are still in a position we could catch them at that time. But fuck knows what Tottenham team turn up match to match.
Strong finish needed. Arguably the strongest squad we have had all season as the juve lads are making a positive difference and Romero back from injury so we still have a fighters chance.

If the filth somehow lose today, they could wobble with Liverpool next - need some injuries tho, they are looking a solid, consistent side that creates chances

Even if they do, does anyone have any sort of faith we will exploit it? I do actually…. We get a leg up on them, Conte is the man to drive us on (need Skipp back tho)
