Seriously, it isn't close. Maddison is a superior player to Eze in every single facet of the game. Eze's chief quality is simply that he doesn't currently play for Spurs and is therefore overrated by many supporters for whom the grass is always greener.
Eze is not a bad player. He is a quality player, and I'd be happy to have him - even if I do fear he's got some Zaha in him and could falter when he leaves Palace. But he is in no way a player we should "bin Maddison" for. Absurd statement.
Put Eze at Spurs and see how his stats go up in a minute...likely surpassing Maddison's. Put Madders at Palace and would he still boss that contest? Allow me to doubt it.
Eze winning the FA Cup vs City and potentially finishing in the top 10 with Palace gives Madders winning the EL and finishing 17th in the league a run for his money.
I'm not saying Maddison isn't a good player, and yeah we are better with him on the pitch than not. But let's not pretend is an elite AM. There's a reason he was at Leicester, now at Spurs and only got 7 caps. He's the best AM at Spurs but he ain't the best in the PL or that ENG squad.
By all means, if we could play both, why not. But if it's a call between keeping Madders and missing out on Eze, I know what I'd do. Just think the kid has a terrific attitude and elite potential...and I don't see that in the dartsman.
But yeah, quite a few other players I'd get rid off before James.

Happy to sell Kulusevski (though he'll always have a place in my heart) and sign Eze. Or just sign Eze, we've got space in the squad for homegrown players - no reason anyone has to leave to make room.
