He was on 500k year as Technical Co-ordinator, while AVB was coach!!!!! So at a guess we were paying him at least 1-1.5m year to take the (temp :) ) coach role. Sounds like WBA didn't want to splash the money.

He'll get a decent role with someone. I think in 5 years he'll be a pretty a good manager. He just needs to quit the "jokey / media darling" image.
Pretty good managers don't compromise their career by choosing money over advancement.

So either Levy still technically has him on gardening leave and asked for compensation....

Or he couldn't agree terms for Ferdinand and Ramsay to join him......

Or West Brom aren't entirely stupid....

I seem to recall his 18 month contract being worth £750k. so I don't think he was getting paid much more at all..

There's a good chance the interview quoted win %'s, super youth development, Kane, Bentaleb and a Mourinho sized wage.

I very much doubt that West Brom would be skimping on even £1m a season, considering what Mel must have been paid.

Former Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood claims he turned down the chance to take over at West Brom as he was not happy with some of the terms.

The Baggies appointed Everton academy chief Alan Irvine as Pepe Mel's successor on Saturday but Sherwood, who was sacked by Spurs after a six-month spell, said he was initially offered the job.
"I went to speak to the chairman and the board there a couple of times and was happy with how the discussions were going," he told talkSPORT.

"I was offered the job before we started to negotiate. It just wasn't right for me in the end, so I decided to give it a miss.
"It is a fantastic club and it looked on the outside like it might be a perfect fit for me but unfortunately we couldn't agree for me to move forward.
"I wish them all the best and Alan in particular, someone I played with a long time ago at Blackburn."

Irvine accepted the job at The Hawthorns after agreeing to keep on coaches Keith Downing and Dean Kiely and Sherwood suggested that was one of the reasons he did not take up the offer.
"I don't know Keith or Dean very well and I've got nothing against them," he said.
"I think it is important you take your own men in and I was looking to bring in a couple of guys who I trust and who I know.
"When you go into a club you haven't got time to try and train someone to your own thinking.

"There were just a couple of ingredients missing which made me decide I wouldn't take the gamble on it.
"I know my worth and I just want to wait for the right opportunity. I am sure it will come along."
The 45-year-old, however, is sure he will be back managing in the Premier League again before long as he looks to prove a point following his brief spell at Spurs.
"I am confident in my ability to be able to do the job," he added.

"I always had the best interests of the club at heart. I never criticised the club, or publically criticised individuals. Obviously I want to learn, and there are things that I might have to change. But I also want to be myself."

:baeshock:

I assume he doesn't know that most of his rants are on YouTube?

What a wankstain

Why is it called Tim's World Cup column? Is it because though he gets to talk about himself and Spurs but he somehow has to tenuously link his comments to the world cup?

He talked about himself and how he acted on the touchline (when he wasn't in the stands) and what he liked to wear, but mentioned Miguel Herrera and Capello's jumper to keep it relevant, he then went on to talk about how he used to answer questions "off the cuff"...or "make it up as you go along", though there didn't seem to be a link to anything that happened at the World Cup with that comment. After that, a few comments about some Spurs players who are at the World Cup and a little bit more blowing of his own trumpet.

Maybe the Independent should call it the 'Tim Sherwood Tim Sherwood 2014 column'.

Is it just me or does he come across a bitter and twisted man?

Tim Sherwood column: Liverpool wisely sorted their transfers early, Fabregas is a smart buy by Chelsea but Spurs need to cut numbers - Premier League - Football - The Independent

Someone reminded me of what Pochettino said when Southampton lost to my Spurs team in October. Apparently, he said that while Southampton were a “young team”, Spurs were “equipped to win the Premier League”. Given that he has not had to sell any big players this summer, in the way that the club lost Gareth Bale a year ago, and the seven new signings have had a year to settle, I can only presume he believes that Spurs can win the title this season too.

I almost feel like writing to Palace and letting them know not to make their second stupid decision in a week and appoint Malky instead of the Gooner in a Gilet

I want Sherwood to get a job like Palace, if only so he can actually either

a) Prove he's a good manager with a real challenge
b) Prove he actually did a below par job considering the players he had

Only way to prove it is with a club like that

That is true, for all the people giving AVB a hard time in Russia, would love to see how he does at his next job, as for Tottenham to be fair to him he did as well as he could, we were just abysmal all round last year

Still being a shit then - banged on no end about how the club could never finish in the top four and the board had to wake up, then he goes and says that.
