Residual fatigue from the Wolves game. It’s a nasty thing that just happens to show up out of no where when certain posters need an excuse

Do you just expect us to win every game? did United "bottle" it when they drew 2-2 with Burnley, (at home)? Did City "bottle it" against Palace/Newcastle? etc What about Liverpool vs West ham Leicester?

Teams drop points? you mention Wolves but what about our wins vs Watford/Fulham/Newcastle/Leicester??

How old are you mate? you must be under 20

God knows what rose was thinking with that shit clearance. All he had to do is control and pass two yards. Insteads just hoofs it into the air back to them.

It wasn't the pitch, ref, sun, pitch, fans, shape of ball etc. We were simply awful.

Strange team selection in that our right flank consisted of Foyth(awful), Aurier (surely no future), Sissoko (equalling his worst of a couple of seasons ago). What does KWP have to do to merit a start?

Add to that the anonymity of Eriksen, Son, Winks. Rose tried hard but was average. Kane rusty, but scored so gets a pass. The rest were average to poor.

The second goal amounted to Aurier (instead of clearing it) putting it back into our danger area and then Eriksen (I think) waving his foot at the attacker in the attempt at a tackle.

Once again it shows our lack of an on-field leader in the mould of Keane, Adams, Roberts who would simply not have allowed those lethargic performances. His boot would have been up Aurier pretty early on.

We need to forget about this non-performance and prepare for the Fascists.
Absolutely

Yep good post and fair points but what a poor game all round by us.

Defensively fragile, lacking in midfield and apart from the ofd occasion blunt in attack.

Nobody should have thought it would be easy but we played in a manner that gave Burnley confidence.

Nobody in our team could think they played well today.

It was an awful team show. Worst U can remember in a long time given the context and supposed quality we had on display.

No doubt about that, there was enough quality on the pitch to win this game. There just wasn’t any intensity in the performance. From the first minute we made it easy for Burnley.

What the hell?
You do know what decides football matches, right? It has nothing to do with posession.

We did not create a single clear-cut chance today. Kane (brilliantly) scored a half chance and his long range one was another half chance. Yet Burnley created smth like 3 (one that flew over the bar). There was not enough agression and direct approach to our play throughout this 90 minutes. As someone said, they wanted it more, they fought for it more and they deserved to win the game.

We could not withstand the pressure and bottled it. No other way to describe this situation unfortunately. As much as it hurts that is what happened. It is not the end of the world we are still having a wonderful season and let's see how far can we go in CL, but with two teams 5 points ahead of us, this is the real end of our fight to be crowned champions. Well it was unlikely anyways, wasn't it?

This x 1000

Its not because of Burnley our 1st touch was awful

Its not because of Burnley we failed with so many passes

But apparently its not down to us as Burnley watered their pitch.......

This was totally down to us and a sub par performance which is just one of those things..... We've been getting away with it in some matches but just not today.

I'm not even that surprised really. After beating Dortmund 3-0, long break to rest, talk of winning the title, articles gushing about how amazing we are, fans getting carried away......this result was fucking coming our way, gift wrapped and clear from a million miles. We do this time and time again, we lose sight of what's in front of us because we are too busy looking up at the clouds. This is why I said I don't like getting carried away with title talk because we have days like this in us.

We can analyse the game, the individuals, the line-up, formation, subs, etc, but we just didn't have our focus today. That was the biggest issue. It was an unfamiliar situation and we were too dizzy with it. The title is gone, please for the love of god let's just forget about it, delete that fucking thread too. Our objective now is to secure top 4 and go as far in the CL as we can, which was always our real objective to be honest.

Yup. Last season we spanked Madrid at home and then dropped a stinker against West Ham at home and got away with a point.

I prefer it when games come thick and fast, seems less likely that we take points for granted.

Teams will always drop points - this isn’t about that. This is about our mentality - about how when we expectation is placed on us and where we have we always fall short. But hey make this all about me.

The most frustrating thing for me (and we've seen it before) is our players getting sucked down to Burnley's level in a match like this. It's like the power of their negative football infects our players for 90 mins and they lose the composure we normally have.

A few thinking points:

> When Eriksen is off, he's really off. Doesn't help that he can be poor when trying to tackle a player making a run towards our box. We all know how wonderful he can be, but it's definitely become a problem when he has to be kept on for the full 90 mins due to a seeming lack of alternative off the bench. Anyone thinking we could get around £100m for him with one year left on his contract had better pray Real Madrid weren't scouting this game.

> A loss stings in particular, but Poch rolled the dice on chasing the win and the gamble didn't pay off. It's to his credit that he at least tried, and I don't think you can look at the shit defending in the buildup to their winner and put the blame for that on Poch.

> Sonny had an off day. Absolutely forgivable given how amazing he has been in the past month, and quite possibly down to Burnley's tactics being the absolute worst game for his playing style. Even with no space to run into, you'd have hoped he could fire a rocket or two at Heaton, but he seemed to leave his shooting boots in the changing room.

> On a positive note, Kane actually looked pretty sharp, particularly for the goal, which bodes well for him having a significant impact during the run-in rather than having a slow return to form (as has happened when rushed back after injuries).

Our best case scenario is a good run in with players like Dele returning to action, securing top 4, getting into the new stadium (and the players getting used to it), and seeing how far we can go in the Champions League.
As others have said, given everything thrown at us this season, even being able to target that is incredibly impressive. We will properly challenge for the title in the next few years, but this ain't it. Not yet.
