UEFA postponed Atalanta vs Villareal due to snow yesterday. If they don't postpone this due a mass outbreak of a global deathly virus then it shows where their priorities are.

Rennes may have travelled here, but that lays with UEFA for not sorting this earlier.
Didn't they just postpone it until today though

Good that this game is cancelled. Too dangerous.

Besides that it is known that Conte is not known for performing well in Europe because he tends to concentrate on the national competitions. That gives him more training time and even then we have a lot of games to play in a short period of time. With this Omicron-variant around we won't be the only club affected by a covid outbreak.

Let’s be honest though, this competition has the importance of a pre season trophy.
Agreed. It is an abomination. I just don't think a club of our recent (and overall) history can choose to be sniffy about it. Winning it means next to nothing, going out in the group stage is humiliating.

Can’t understand why Rennes are whinging, do they want to risk their players getting Covid? One less game for them to play too.

Or is this cos their big day in London is off?

Any chance for Uefa to hammer us with a fine they will take.

I propose that Rennes/Brighton/Leicester are rearranged for a later date. Spurs v Rennes should be next Thursday or Friday and we can get back to normal from that date. Only problem is what happens with Vitesse/Mura. Spurs know what is required to get through.

If, (and it's a big if) this match is rearranged, under current rules it would have to played before 31st December. This is not feasible with the amount of fixtures Spurs have in that time.

One option for UEFA to try and resolve the matter would be to extend the deadline by a week, and play the game on Wednesday 5th Jan. Both Spurs and Rennes have games scheduled for Saturday 8th Jan.

If we beat West Ham in the League Cup QF then w/c 3rd Jan and w/c 10th Jan are the semi-final dates.

Looking more like we're forfeiting the game...notice there's no mention of postponement in that statement....I guess it's up to UEFA...

Edit: Should have waited a minute...

Breaking News:
The entire Rennes squad are being held in a migrant detention centre just off the M25. The Home Secretary has issued a statement, confirming that their cases will be heard as a priority, but probably not before March 2023.
A spokesperson for the team has said, "We don't care how long it takes, just let us stay in the wonderful new independent UK. God Save The Queen.".

Happy birthday to meeeeeeee.

Oh and hahaha fuck you Rennes
bored happy birthday GIF

On another note. Why hasn't tonight's game between Vitesse and Mura not been postponed?
If that game goes ahead and Vitesse win, and the Spurs v Rennes is rearranged for a future date; then Spurs will have the advantage of knowing how many goals they need to win by to qualify.

Because they have to find spaces for those teams to rearrange their fixture which will have to take place the same day/time as our match with Rennes, it's not feasible.
