Always prefer to be in the champions league obviously but I do really enjoy the Europa league when we’re in it

Some of my funnest and best memories of the lane are from Thursday nights

I’m looking forward to next season and hope we take it seriously

Anyone else genuinely excited about next season's EL campaign?

I dunno it feels like we haven't really given this comp a proper crack and we've always taken it for granted or we've come up short but a club like our should always take this comp seriously given our history

Think this season was a good lesson for the club and our fans, it humbled us because we thought that we should be a CL regular and we missed playing in Europe so much we can now welcome the comp with open arms.

No CL dropouts this year which means more of an even competition as well.

Would be good if we can give some youngers a go in the group stages, players like Bergvall, Donley if he doesn't go on loan next season, Hall maybe? Veliz/Scarlett etc...

Anyway I can see us getting to the Semi's before being shithoused out of the comp by someone like Roma or Porto due to lack of experience - Chelsea and Newcastle are going to be in it as well it looks like which is annoying but it is what it is...
 
So we need to finish in top 8 or play 2 extra matches. That will mean starting strong. Still less matches to win this than PL and no MC, Woolwich, Barcelona & Real Madrid to have to play. better to win this than 4th place trophy in PL.

We play 8 different teams having 4 home games and 4 away games

Matchday 6: 12 December 2024
Matchday 7: 23 January 2025
Matchday 8: 30 January 2025

In league of 36 teams top 8 go into last 16
9th - 24th play off to give another 8 teams to make up last 16 then straight knock out to the final

Unfortunately we’ll fudge it and finish out of the top 8 and have to play the extra games which we’ll go out in rendering it all a waste of time. We don’t currently have a good enough starting XI let alone squad to be rotating too heavily for these games. It should only be switching in a couple of players if we want to proceed.

I agree. We must not just use it to give a game to someone that cannot get into the first team. Ange uses 5 subs regularly and so that is 16 players a match. With injuries others get into the 16. That should be more than enough to rotate with those that are subs at the weekend starting on Thursdays. Only use the kids or fringe players once we have qualified or as late subs unless they deserve a start, in which case they should be getting minutes in the PL. We need to win a trophy.
