Davies played under Poch for a whole season carrying an injury (that required surgery in the end) so he has that in his locker. Let’s hope it’s not as detrimental as that one though as it hit his form badly.

Wales causing a significant injury, so question is going to be who is the back up for Reguilon as LB if we need to rest him in the remaining games of the season - or god forbid Reguilon gets injured.

Tanganga should be playing as RB, so unless Mourhino decides to bring back Aurier and/or Doherty as either RB with Tanganga moving to LB or Aurier/Doherty playing LB, Reguilon's rotation options look to be two choices :

1. Dennis Cirkin, almost 19, who had a decent amount of playing time in preseason but who has only played 4 u23 games after an injury and bereavement hit season before then, plus one non playing appearance on EL bench.

2. Marcel Lavinier, a 20 year old who has started about 16 u23 matches, 6 as LB and 10 as RB (all but one u23 matches since he was signed), and made his EL debut plus appeared on bench.

Could be a close call but Lavinier might edge it on playing time this season and one EL appearance .....and being about 15 months older.

But just as likely Mourhino recalls Aurier/Doherty

Yep damning isn't it? There's very little difference in performance between an injured Davies and a fit one.

Aurier does have a decent left peg on him.

I'm all for giving youth their chances, but neither Lavinier nor Cirkin are ideal. ML I take it is a RB who has had a few at LB (do we know how he's played at LB by the way?). Cirkin with lack of game time even at U19 levels.

Do you remember one of the Harry seasons when we ran out of RBs and Benny A-E had to fill in? So one-footed!!
