Transfer Adama Traore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Next to Jimenez & Jota he had 4 goals & 9 assists

I don't think I'm wrong saying Kane & Son are better than those 2
Put Kane and Son in those spots and they score. That’s my point. Traore will create for them.
Any statistics on how many games Wolves' best striker by a country mile missed when these assists weren't happening btw?
If you create chances for Kane and Son, a guy with 9 assists in a wolves team would logically get more assists with better goalscorers.
That is very-very-very simplistic view of things.

And if only that could work both ways... Like when you say "Jota is not good enough finisher, if Traore creates to better attackers, he will get more assists."

I can as simply say "But Traore is utter wank - after Jota got way better service in Liverpool, he has since scored 11 goals with 1254 minutes (goal for 114 mins) . Last season while playing with Traore he only got 7 goals for 2300 minutes (goal for 328 mins). So with better service he is able to score a lot more, so Traore was bad and part of the problem, not Jota".

I mean fucking hell..............

I wouldnt say Sissoko is particularly fast anymore.

In my view his major function with us will be create spaces for Son, Kane and the others. His final product is not good but isn't worse than Moura or Berwijn as well. Also with Dele as a box-to-box and Adama atracting defenders we will probably score a lot more from the spaces created.

Of course Salah and Firmino are better creaters than Traore. No one denies that.

If it happens game after game, season after season, its him - not them.

The idea he is doing everything right and its just the forwards letting him down just doesnt work.
That’s not what I’m saying at all. What I’m saying is put him on a team with top forwards, let him do what he’s good at and don’t expect goals from him. Just expect him to create.

Believe it or not, some players fit teams/systems better than others

So Traore can be a wingback, yeah? Maybe this starts to make sense.

Lloris (Gollini)
Sanchez Romero Dier (Tanganga, Davies, one more?)
Traore (Doherty) PEH Skipp Dele (Lo Celso, Winks, Sarr) Reguilon (Sess)
Kane Son (Lucas, Bergwijn)

Mug off Aurier and Sissoko, add a CB, that all kinda adds up, short of creativity though it may be.

And if Kane goes we’ll use the money to sign, uh, Cristiano Ronaldo I guess

The obligatory youtube vid

One thing I thought was a big plus (if we signed him) is look how many of his assists (which would have been in his only productive season) were goals for Jiminez inside the 6 yard box or around the penalty spot. His crosses/cut backs were very good. They weren't just an assist where he passes the ball and the guy he passed to pings it from 30 yards. So the quality of the chances created/assists looked very good in this period.

Traore might have kept up that production had Jiminez not got his head smashed in. And Kane is levels above Jiminez.

Something to ponder.

Managed to sit through 3minutes 52 seconds of that. And in that time, half of the highlights are simply him running with the ball.

Nothing to show for it, no end product of final action, just a shot of him running which is abruptly cut.

Probably says it all really.

I understand the thinking, and can even say there might be something to it - but I cant help thinking myself that we really should be looking for more from a player than "makes space for others".

Jota is scoring more because of the system and defenses focusing on Salah. Just like Traore will be able to help Son and Kane.

Why am I not surprised Spurs fans find reasons to complain about every possible signing? Traore isn’t perfect but he will add dimensions we do not have.

We complain about needing more attackers but then complain about every person we are linked with.

Buy a forward but dont expect them score. The mental gymnastics on this one are astounding.

Last couple of seasons, under our actual manager, he showed he actually wasnt that adept at creating (or scoring). Story of his whole career.

But, miraculously, bring him to Spurs and suddenly that will change?

If he does come in, I of course hope he is incredible. But I certainly wont be holding my breath on expecting anything other than what we all know from him already.

Agree
Also with his size he will smash the granny our of many defenders :)
I am quite looking forward to this.

Well, that 2nd part of the post was very informative and Traore specific... "Ah, you just whine about everyone".

No. People don't whine about everyone. Point is that at best he will be good. AT BEST.
Cause he is 25 years and 7 months. And his transfer will demand massive fee.

I personally was happy about Gil purchase - seems like a talented young lad who can really turn out great in the future. But when you buy 25-26 yrold player for large sum, it should also come with good upside. Not that he runs faster than our current options.
