Auba and Traore in for Barca, what a weird team that’s gonna be

ThisWe finally get rid of the unhappy / unpopular / highly paid / non performing players. That alone will boost the remaining squad. We have a lean squad. All players left will feel they have a part to play.
What happens if a couple get injured... that lean squad will become threadbare. We finally get rid of the unhappy / unpopular / highly paid / non performing players. That alone will boost the remaining squad. We have a lean squad. All players left will feel they have a part to play.
No way is it enough done for now. Our squad is as paper thin as I’ve ever seen it.The question is whether he is content with the action taken during the window, not whether he's content with the squad. He clearly won't be, and has said consistently this is going to take a while. Is it enough done for now?
The 4 players at AFCONThey were affected by AFCON for moments in Jan, which is why they pretended to have 5 injuries to avoid the NLD in one of the most embarrassing bottle jobs in recent history.
However, from Feb they will have a far better squad than us.
They all reek of ‘has beens’ a bit in my opinion… like they weren’t quite good enough to play for Barca in their pomp …. But the dream remains and it’s a fillip for the egoAmazing the amount of people crawling over hot coals to play for Barcelona. Just goes to show, you dont always need to offer those huge salaries.
Makes sense from his point of view. Maybe an element of homesickness too? I can't see how it helps us, unless we are already looking to put him in the shop window for a sale in the summer.
How dare you not be a drama queen and fail to see that we're the only one in our little league group that has added anyone to the squadWoolwich have shipped out Auba, AMN, Chambers, Mari, Bolagun, and Kolasinac while bringing in no one. They have only Laca and Nkethiah (who is worse than Scarlett) up top. And in the midfield it’s Xhaka and Partey backed up by El Neny and that Belgian kid they bought who is very green.
United have sent out Martial, Van de Beek, and Greenwood certainly won’t be playing.
Could we have done more? Probably. But we’re in a better position vis a vis our top 4 rivals than at the start of the window. And I can literally never remember a time that happened.
There's nothing garanteed when you spend spend spend...you don't ensure you get top 4 by just merely filling the squad out with risks, you just have to assume that Conte is happy and that he can work with the players he has now.If we do get top 4 it's reliant on superior squads flopping.
We should have ensured we had a top 4 level squad in this Jan window. It would have been worth the cash, as CL football itself brings in money.
Do you have net spend numbers dating back the last several windows instead of nitpicking certain teams in certain windows? It's good information but just not complete unless looking at all windows.
And I'm sure you are looking at us to spend similar to Woolwich (aside from just looking at one window) or maybe close to Liverpool because we aren't going to be similar to Chelsea, United and City.
It's a risk, but we're out of Europe, mostly just one game a week from here on in. Good position to build in the summer, when likely we'll have better options to get real quality in.What happens if a couple get injured... that lean squad will become threadbare.
Ok, go support them then. Barca was probably the best squad in the world when these players were kids. We can't go back in time and change that to spurs. What the fuck is your point.Amazing the amount of people crawling over hot coals to play for Barcelona. Just goes to show, you dont always need to offer those huge salaries.
That's fair. Woolwich clearly have a few academy guys doing well but what the fuck did they spend all that money on?21/22 Spurs net spend: 55m, Woolwich's was 120m
20/21 Spurs net spend: 87m, Woolwich's was 77m
19/20 Spurs net spend: 75m, Woolwich's was 100m
18/19 Spurs net spend: -5m, Woolwich's was 63m
We've been very much outspent by them, both in terms of transfers & wages. And their own fanbase has been unhappy with the level of investment in the squad. They've also had, let's face it, superior academy prospects filling spots - guys like Saka, ESR, Martinelli.
But your point was that their bench was weak and had players we had never heard of. Elneny and Pepe are mediocre, they'd be sitting on the bench anyway. The 4 players at AFCON
Auba - He's been shunned and given the Ndombele treatment.
Elneny - Has played 176 minutes in the PL this season.
Pepe - Has played 505 minutes in the PL (less than 33%). 0 goals.
Partey - Full time starter.
Yes, those 4 additions will just change their squad entirely.
