Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Quite like this read. We will just see how he developed as a coach or not, new ground for everyone involved really. But given the amount of uncertainty with COVID and how this impacts sides financially and as a consequence the transfer of players, we might be leaning more on academy players in the next couple of years. If so this could be a super appointment.

I've met Ledley a couple of times, all official occasions (whilst he was carrying out Spurs duties either as Captain or as an Ambassador) I can't emphasis enough just how "normal" he is and that's meant as a positive. He is the most approachable, down to earth player I think I've ever met as within seconds you forget who he is and it's just like talking to a really nice person as your wait for a bus or something.

But even outside of the "official" business he's the same bumped into him twice now.

I had a nagging feeling that his appointment was a bit of a PR stunt, but you can see his influence on the defence especially.
Long Live The King!
I felt the same at first. It felt a bit like a way of placating the fanbase when things weren't great with Jose.

But his influence is clearly growing.

Im paraphrashing Ali Gold but he mentioned that Dier and a couple of others were asked about Ledley's influence on the defence. He said that he always knows what to say at the right time and that you listen because he was one of the best defenders of his generation.

For me its one of the reasons we have only conceded 9 goals in the league so far.

he was one of the best defenders of *any generation.
Fixed for you.

King Ledley is criminally underrated. He's up there with Nesta, Baresi, Beckenbauer and Passarella.

Never seen better before or since.

None of them did this...

Might just be the greatest tackle of all time. Outside of Michelangelo's David.

Ledley with his one knee in his prime is better than a prime VVD and I don't care what anyone says.

With 2 working legs I reckon he would've been the greatest defender the world has ever seen.

:dwi:

He really was unreal. I reckon if his knees were ok, he wouldnโ€™t of even been with Spurs that long unfortunately. He would of gone to Real Madrid, he was that good. Even with bad injuries, he was still a fantastic defender. One thing we can say is, least he actually won a trophy with Spurs.

I hate putting this in print, but when a certain player absconded to that lot down the road I never thought we would get even an half-as-good replacement. But then Ledley came along, and he blew that so-and-so out of the water. Even with a dodgy knee, he is without question the best defender I have ever seen in a Spurs shirt, by a country mile. When he played, he made his defensive partner look better. I had complete confidence in him, which is usually a rare feeling with our defence over the years (probable exceptions were Mabbsie/Gough and Jan/Toby at their peak).
Yes, I agree that if he hadn't had a dodgy knee, he would have probably moved to a top team abroad, his ability was undeniably of the highest quality.
I'm ecstatic that we have found a position for him, and I hope that he thrives in his new role.

Iโ€™m only a couple weeks older than Ledley and being a defender myself I used to go to games and watching him and Woodgate at their best it was mind blowing , too easy for them, saw them bully Drogba to the point he had to be subbed

Incredible player, met him 3 times in the US he is a great man too, good luck to him and with Jan gone he can push on those younger defenders

It would be brilliant in so many ways if Ledley eventually became our manager one day. A lot has to happen before then - of course - but it would still be cool.

It would - hopefully he will follow Arthur Rowe and Bill Nick's footsteps, and not Hod or Ossie/Stevie's ๐Ÿคž
