If it is him I’m happy enough, plays great football and has players running through walls for him

Not every appointment has to be a big name to work out, this isn’t fifa

He’s got my backing until he does something that doesn’t warrant it anymore
To quote The Heavy
How you like me now?
LarryDavid - haven’t seen you round for a bit, but I reckon you had the “most real” post at the start of this appointment thread.
So… how you feeling now? Pecker up?

We'd be better playing Angeball! That team was perhaps better in the final third than the current team thanks to peak Dele, peak Eriksen and Kane. BUT, we're yet to really see what the current squad can do, and I expect the current team to surpass that team in terms of performances and success.

Until proven otherwise, it's not just the attack that's inferior.....

Poch's defence was the best in the league for 2 years straight.

This aged well...🫣

There's some crackers in the first 10 pages or so of this thread. Yes I know hindsight is 20/20.
rebellions are built on hope
Far out - I was ‘hoping’ for Ange and Spurs, but ‘hope’ does suggest a frailty imho.
He’s got the serious big balls, and powering though all modes of shite. He’s motivated players to level up, and jesus, haven’t they just done that?
I’m not so much about ‘hope’ these days - it’s more ‘panic’ prior to a match, and waiting to see if the boys on the park will execute the plan.
Super impressed that all the guys give 110%
Skills or experience might be lacking sometimes and execution might not be there yet, but attitude and commitment is evident.
Not long until a true first team is running amok and “spursy” means you are getting your ass handed to you.

Neville can as always, fuck off. He'll change his mind again if we were to lose a few games.
i don't condone violence but sumtimes i wish some horse would kick neville

Do people not like Mason? He seems to be doing a good job under Ange, is apparently attacking minded and didn’t drop his bundle when Ange was brought in, in his place, which takes a bit of character.

Ryan Mason will possibly step up. He’s doing his apprenticeship under Ange at the moment.
It's not a matter of not liking Mason and tactically he might even turn out to be superior to Ange. But where Ange trumps all managers is his personality and absolute self-belief. Just think about it: he comes to Spurs, one of the biggest clubs in the world, having no previous experience managing in a top league and he doesn't bring a single member of his previous staff with him. He is so comfortable in his beliefs and abilities that he has no problem putting together a team of people from scratch and be confident he will create a fully aligned and high-performing coaching team.

Mason might be end up being a tactical genius, but as Ange has shown that is only one half of the equation. Not sure if Mason has the other half. Would be awesome if he did.

In select games, depending on the opposition, he could play Dragusin and VdV as RCB and LCB and Romero as a quasi 6. Romero's passing and composure on the ball is excellent, so he may be able to fill this role. This would give Ange the flexibility in game to switch from back 4 to a 3-at-the-back.
I suggested this recently but some cunt said to play players in their position, but I think it’ll work too

Hi, i have been keeping an eye on this forum since Ange started getting linked to the job. My hope as a celtic fan would be that Spurs find a bigger name manager and we get to keep Ange. The more time passes the more it seems like this could be a goer.

So i wanted to let you know some thoughts.

Ange came to celtic after Eddie Howe pulled out at the last minute after months of it being a "done deal". He came in through the covid period and immediately found a scottish media desperate to hang him out dry. Majoiry of celtic fans were disappointed dropping from Howe to an unknown, but after finding out a bit about him, we willing to give him a chance (much like many on here seem prepared to do)

After a slow start, Ange pretty quickly put is mark on the team, and the football we started to play is the best i have ever seen. Better than Rodgers team, Martin O'Neill etc. He has no time for players who dont want to be at the club, regardless of reputation, he wants guys who want to be there and its a team ethic over individuals.

His recruitment has been very good, but this is due to him having a clear idea of how he wants the team to play (inverted full backs, fast paced posesion football).

What i have noticed is that better footballers excel under him and ever a lot of average players are improved.

Ange also is very good with the media, and he represents the team well, he can put out fires really well and gets everyone pulling in the right direction.

Lastly, a couple of things, The guys who run celtic, are pretty good a what the do. The Chairmans son worked for the City group for a long time (he has now joined celtic) and it was this relationship that led us to Ange after Eddie Howe (who most people agree would also have been a good appointment.

The City group know football.. Scott Munn was part of this and he will know the candidates linked with the job. Conte and Mourinho were world class managers, but from an outsider, they didnt fit the spurs model. Spurs need someone willing to make the place better, the team better and not sit about grumpy that you dont have the money Man City or Chelsea do.
From one of the first pages in this thread.

Funny what some respectful outside perspective can do.

The Asian Cup is bringing to the fore inadvertently how lucky we are to have Ange and his style of football at this club.

The discontent here from the local football public at watching Arnold's archaic and generally drab style of football has heightened the sympathy felt towards Ange for his treatment as national coach. Fans openly pining to return to Ange's football even if we lose every game as at least we'd be having a go and playing attractive football.

And the last 6 months watching Spurs certainly has that feeling to it. Even when we lose I enjoy watching us play far more than any game under Conte or Mourinho.
