As with every other season, the table doesn't really take shape until the Christmas period is over. Games come thick and fast then, with a lot of change once they're over.We had two very shit patches last year - people conveniently ignore that from GW 16 to 32 we went on a run of P16 W10 L3 D3 averaging a fraction over 2 points a game.
I think we can challenge for 5th absolutely - Chelsea looks good to be fair but they have had hiccups. Villa has recently drawn with Ipswich and Bournemouth, and Brighton and Forest will fall away at some point....
We are further in the League Cup, and have European Football to contend with, which I feel we will get into the knockout stages for.
So while the league form is different feel to last, there is other stuff going on to encourage us - regardless of who the opponents are.
The Palace game and the second half vs Brighton have definitely given me pause and some concern but I'm not sure how anyone can write us off just yet - the league is still so tight and we have yet to play Chelsea, Forest and Villa - all above us who we can catch up 3 points to by beating them.
What your thoughts on the same questions?
We need to get some momentum going now though. We're a long way from "being adrift" at the moment, but we need that momentum going into the Christmas period to keep us in the conversation.
