It's horseshit, isn't it. Using the man utd game example, and assuming the penalty was given:

1)a pen isn't an automatic goal.
2) if the pen is scored, it restarts from from the centre circle, and the game follows a different pattern from that point. Man utd might have scored twice in quick succession and won. They might have chased the game and let in another 3.

Agreeed, another example

  • Leicester scored three goals after injury time overran - more than any other side.

Injury time can officially overrun and
Still be valid

I'd go one step further - injury time by definition can't overrun, as the number displayed is a minimum. So, if the ref says it's a minimum of 3 minutes, it can be anything from 3 minutes up. 7 minutes it technically fine (although would take some justification). Only if the ref blew up at 2m20 or something then it's a legitimate complaint.

They've also included deflected goals! What a farce, it's totally subjective other than offside and mistaken identity.

As Johnboy40 Johnboy40 said it completely ignores how it's impossible to say how a game would play out differently if you reran it from that point. Chaos theory/butterfly effect and all that.

I'd love to see how they "corrected" our game at Anfield, for example. Firstly they may take away our two penalties due to their subjective nature - but would they take into account that without the first penalty Salah would not have scored his go-ahead goal? We were well on top at that point pushing for a winner, the missed penalty changed the dynamic in Liverpool's favour. Without the pen, we'd have quite possibly gone on to win that game.

Point is you can't tell. All you can do is count the number of incidents that were "wrong", not extrapolate to final scores.

What a surprise to see the BBC projecting a light on Liverpool.

Half expect to see a contrary report, showing Man Utd to be hard-done-by on Sky Sports later.

Have the dippers even strengthened with all the spending? The goalie is a shot in the dark, Shaqiri will be parked in Greggs all year eating his weight in pies and Keita is not better than Can.

Goalie can't really be worse than Mignolet or Karius, and no way is Can better than Keita (for Liverpool anyway).

Shaqiri is the joker in the pack - the wildcard. Worth a punt at £13m all day long.

A new keeper. Replacing Ox and Can with two cloggers in central midfield. And a guy who was a bit shit in team that was relegated. And suddenly they are Champions elect. They should start by trying to finish above us first.
