There are lots of factors causing the seasonality of flu, one of which being an increase in people being gathered together, but absolutely another is that many viruses struggle to survive in warmer & more humid weather due to the reasons I outlined above
You're still painting with an awfully broad brush. "The flu" is thousands of different viruses, many of which definitively do struggle to survive in hot and humid weather. This is almost, but not quite by default. Some coronaviruses struggle as well to do so. It's a mixed bag. Yes, MERS replicates well in hot weather, but that's fairly unique, as common cold coronaviruses more typically struggle in hot and humid weather. It's not just societal factors; it is typical that viruses thrive in cool and dry weather, and alternately bacteria thrive in hot and humid weather. Many do indeed the flu has never been proven to be one for sure however and other Corona viruses have been proven they don't.

The data right now is contradictory, some reports are positive and some are negative on whether warming weather will be of help. We will certainly see, but very little is still definitively known about this virus and it isn't certain by any stretch that it's most similar to MERS, we just don't know that yet. Nor is it certain that SARS thrived in hot weather either, the outbreak happened through the winter and was contained by late-spring / early-summer.
Liverpool 2019-2020 the unfinishables.

Any theories on social distancing from your wife/girlfriend/partner/husband etc who you share a bed with?Possibly we're overthinking .... whilst a lot is unknown there are some basic physics at play.
In very hot weather virus laden moisture is less prevalent on exposed surfaces - you don't have damp infected surfaces where the virus can live, they simply dry up in seconds, humid air is already loaded with moisture leaving no room for infected breath to spread - but that's not going to stop the spread just slow it down
By far the most important factor seems to be - social distancing - in very hot weather you don't go out, you don't socialise, you do as little as possible, it's not the hot weather per see that's stopping the virus, clearly it can spread anywhere, but the fact that hot weather almost by accident enforces social distancing is probably why the spread so far is less
Of course if you all gather several times a day to pray ... you're pretty screwed
ExactlyIsn't there a COVID19 thread?
I came here to see dippers crying...
Good stuffFrom a Dipper fan. I hope everybody stays safe and that the rivalry can continue in the shortest time possible. It's very hard with no footy to watch
Null and void you say? Care to explain in more detail?Good stuff
I don't know how we'll manage until October, when the new season starts and this one being declared null and void.
