Always have beenScummy cunts
I’ve always been amazed by the draft picking system, and tried to imagine how it would ever work in Europe. Imagine Norwich having first dibs on the best young players and getting to select the Tom Brady of “soccer”….In a way, yes. Our sports leagues are, by far, the most socialist of American institutions. They are, basically, collective entities where a vast majority of the revenue is pooled and distributed equally and whose workforce labours under collectively bargained agreements that dictate the percentage of revenue that must go to the labour force. The number of employees on labour side is regulated within the collective bargaining agreement, and management is required to spend the agreed upon percentage of revenue on players, who are all guaranteed a minimum salary rate.
The NFL fucks with the utopia, by not guaranteeing contracts because the NFL union has always been the weakest of the bunch. But, by and large it leads to an extremely equitable sporting competition. Every club is competing within the same financial constraints and it really just comes down to who does their jobs best, and who gets the rub of the green at the right spots.
The best players don't get paid their true value, but the worst players are making more than their true value. Theres no such thing as a perfect system, but its pretty close to ideal in all honesty. Not that we apply this system to anything else in this country, in every other market we're obsessed with the free market (like European football) to the detriment of the Middle class (like European football).
And weirdly every single party trying to buy them says they will redevelop it. It’s almost like they haven’t a clue the pitch is owned by someone else and the fact the site is hard to develop. A lot of bullshitters or people looking to make a quick buck I suspect. The last planning consent has expired, that took 18 months to come to pass, build costs have gone up massively and there’s a lot of local opposition to development. Whoever buys them won’t be building a new stadium for years, if at all.
It's doomsday for them today.
Let us all hope a tight fisted fuck takes over the club and slowly disemsembles them .
