Which is insane. Deschamps is being a stubborn old goat. He’s much better than Upamecano or Konate who have had terrible seasons.

With the talent we have, we should be winning this tournament.....but guess what......
Agreed but can he be in a joint team if he can't even make their first teamWhich is insane. Deschamps is being a stubborn old goat. He’s much better than Upamecano or Konate who have had terrible seasons.

The problem is waistcoat...Probably, and we probably won’t. But the outdated notion we won’t get out the groups or that we lack talent is just so boring to still read in 2024.
The ‘English players only do well when foreigners are playing with them’ crap is the absolute worst as well.
Shaw won't even play in the group stages........... Ignoring this fact won't make it go away.
I'm sceptical he will be match fit enough to play a minute. If he doesnt feature tonight, how can he be expected to do anything in a major tournament. We always seem to do this (take an injured player) and never learn from it.
This is a little different imo. We are not leaving out anyone who we really need. The guy we are taking isn't the one big hope (Beckham/Rooney) but the only decent option in his position, backup is expected to play but a bonus to have an option of a traditional LB.I'm sceptical he will be match fit enough to play a minute. Shaw was in the Euro 2020 team of the tournament and deservedly so, he is when fit one of the best left back in the prem and a top class player. It’s simply that he is often injured or in the past overweight.
If Shaw is fit we have an elite left back but if is the key word.

Elite is a strong word. He's a very good left back on his day. Which is few and far between.
He wasn't in the team of the tournament either. Spinazolla was the left back.
Then again, Hojberg and Lukaku made it. As we know, you can't judge a footballer on a tournament.
England team for tonight -
Pickford
Walker
Stones
Guehi
Trippier
Rice
Mainoo
Foden
Palmer
Gordon
Kane
Just need a left back
That is an absolutely brilliant side.
Luke Shaw is a nothing player. No big clubs want him.
