I just don’t see it’s a factor - everyone knew it was an ACL. The whole fanbase is obsessed with squeezing every deal. When you are desperate, pay the asking price and close the deal. Levy ‘wins’ on most negotiations, we can lose a few for the odd good player and not do a LeedsWhy is it ridiculous?

If that’s the reason (or it could be the swelling as spurs9 suggested) it’s common sense they keep it quiet as obviously if he’s out for the season or just a month is bound to make a difference to the apparent desperation to recruit and potentially the transfer price.
