He went to the Board and told them they need a world class keeper and CB if they’re to compete at the top. Board believed in him, backed him and paid up the millions. Poch got some bargain bin specials and lost Walker for a good profit. Rest is history.

Mourinho's Chelsea finished 10th remember. The man we hired to replace Poch got sacked for taking a team with the likes of Hazard, Willian, Costa, Pedro, Terry, Matic etc. to finish below the likes of Stoke, Southampton and and West 😂 Ham.

While Pochettino somehow moulded the same bunch relatively cheap punts and Home growns that make up the bulk our squad today into a title challenge and champions league finish..

2015/16 still haunts me. It was set up for us. Possibly a once in a lifetime chance. We might have had a young and inexperienced team back then but opportunity presented itself and at this club opportunity doesn’t come around too often and you have to grab it.

Leicester won the league with 81 points that season. Starting with Woolwich in their unbeaten season in 2003/04 with 90 points, the league winners have posted a minimum of 86 points every season since. It was the perfect storm that season with pretty much all the big guns in a state of flux - Man U and Man City finished the season with a points tally in the mid 60’s and was apparent for most of the season that with would both sack their managers - Chelsea and Liverpool sacked their managers before Christmas. Every time the big chance presented itself, we didn’t grasp it.

In reality they sold Coutinho their best player for £140 million and gave him him the proceeds to spend.

But you keep on telling yourself they ‘backed’ him.

No - you’re right - they kept the profit and paid out the shareholders instead because they knew Lovren and Karius are good enough

I’m not asking about Van Gaal
I’m asking why in 2016 when everyone was shit, and we were peak and finished above them, why we couldn’t beat Leicester or even hold a 13pt lead on Woolwich in 4 months

How much backing did he need to get his team past Wes Morgan

Who are both still contracted to the club - well done.

Oh that’s alright then - I love to see everyone here claiming such backing if we sold Kane. What owners the Fenway group are - selling their best player but having courtesy of giving the funds a manager. Amazing stuff
