Yeah, I should have said league team. Wembley's slightly different as England matches, finals, play offs, rugby league stuff etc can all be played elsewhere for a further season without complaints of "when will we go home?"

What London area stadium was ever completed on time would have been a better question .....

Emirates was at least two years late ... and they didn't have a football ground already on the site .... relocation began in 2002, but financial difficulties delayed work until February 2004. The entire stadium project was completed in 2006 at a cost of £390 million ....

Charlton's new Valley ground didn't open until December 92 .... planned to open at the start of that season ...

Reading's ground was first planned for completion for the 97-98 season but didn't in fact open until a year later ...

Building a new stadium is harder than you think, building one on an existing site, with a traffic nightmare, and a loony council ... just 6 months late will be a feckin' miracle ....

They had a full floodlight test last night....looking good...

Red mobile crane in position to start to take down the North East crane which is likely to be down before tomorrow evening - leaving 2 cranes on site both at south end of the stadium.

The red mobile crane was in position for 2 or 3 days last week but high winds meant it couldn't do its job fir safety reasons

Once down, the main job left to be done on the east side of the stadium is the cladding/veil of which about 25% of the framework is already in place. I guess it just depends on priority and availability of the specialist contractor as to when the veil gets done - probably 2nd priority to West side which is the side most available to public view along High street and one which cameras are likely to focus on.

We keep hearing this, however I can't actually think of a stadium that wasn't ready when it was supposed to be
Woolwich, Wembley, Atletico theres 3.

Woolwich was delayed for over a year when they couldn’t finance it. Still took longer than this.
Wembley about 3 years late. Maybe more. Was supposed to be completed in 2003. Then 2005, then 2006. Lost count how many dates they gave.

West Ham renovations, late
Atletico, you should know about.

What is different here is that we have had to move out to build. We have built on the same location.
Delays don’t impact as much when you don’t have to leave your home ground until it’s ready.

Cladding going onto the skybridge - being hoisted up manually.

Slow process with one team so could take a few weeks, but I'm guessing there is nothing depending on it so its not on the critical path and likely to be finished before the first test event at current rate of progress.

Pretty sure the Emirates was late too, but nobody remembers things like that because their situation was completely different to ours.

Most teams still have their old stadium to play in while the new one is built in a different location. CAn't remember anyone building a new stadium on the same site like we are.
Real Madrid and Barcelona will have fun with their refurbs I think

Liverpool asked for the option of playing away games, in case their stand was late. They did and it was. They couldn't bring one stand in on time, let alone a ground.
Didn't see the blanket negative coverage that got. Probably late due to all the robbing.
NWHL makes my heart leap every time I see a new photo. Ten minutes into the first game all this moaning about being late will be forgotten. It is magnificent.
And just to remind you, " . . so high, that even in failure, there is an echo of glory. '

BEN on FTL saying they start work on the pitch today !

If true that would mean the first Test Event possibly in October, subject of course to these pesky 'Safety Systems' looking if they are solved

Rumour is that whenever Liverpool contractors put anything in place, overnight someone nicked the hub caps !

What's happened to the NFL pitch underneath? Looks like loads of pieces missing. Is the retractable pitch above dragging pieces away as it moves?
My guess (hope) is it is redistributing the rubber bits and it will need to be groomed to rake them back into place and stand the synthetic fibers up. I would assume there is a tractor with a 6 or 8 foot wide attachment that does this.

Most teams who are building a new ground are also still able to play at their old ground until the new one is ready. Our situation means any delays are highlighted more.

If they are going about laying the pitch over the next week or so, I would think the club hopes to start test events soon. Still haven't heard anything about the Chelsea match and we are 2 months out, so something's got to give soon in terms of news on an opening fixture.

The club have said that test events will have four weeks notice .... it's a council requirement apparently ...

I imagine Spurs themselves will want probably at least 2-3 weeks notice for an event with a large number of spectators, even for an u23 or u18 event to which they want a crowd of say 25,000, and the reason will be that they need to ensure that they have staff (stewards, catering staff, bar staff) plus cordoning off any areas they don't want the public to go to etc. So its all the organisational stuff that means that some notice is needed.

But its the council that sign off on the Safety Certificate to the stadium, so I could imagine Spurs approaching the council and saying we have invited your safety guys round for final checks in a weeks time and provided we get sign off we'd like the first test event 3 weeks after - are you happy with that 4 weeks notice ?

So the council might get 4 weeks notice but the public perhaps only 3 weeks. Maybe ?

A rather emasculated crane on the north east of the stadium, shorn of its horizontal jib to the right of the red mobile crane.

Unless its bad weather, the remaining parts of the crane will be down tomorrow. RIP Mr Crane, you have served the stadium build cause well !
