Or, how about this theory, his agent contacted Spurs, we decided to listen, told him we'd get back to him and now speaking to others.

I still think the media are running with the despite not knowing anything.
Hmmm not sure about that. Too many have picked up on it now. At this stage who else do we have left to speak too? I reckon they'll announce it Monday or Tuesday when the press is full of England. A good day to bury 'meh' news. Hope you're right though.

Duncan Castles claims that a very good source has told him that Spurs were very close to hiring the 54-year-old before Brexit rules scuppered the deal.

"They also, I have from a very good source, went a long way down the line with Julen Lopetegui, the Sevilla coach. They had agreed terms to release him from his contract, so he has a €5m release clause with the Spanish club and they had agreed terms on a contract, but for personal reasons related to family matters and because of changes brought about on movement of individuals due to Brexit, Lopetegui pulled out of the deal,” Castles said.

I think the club are waiting for the fans to digest the news and get their most negative reactions out of the way before they officially confirm it. Maybe they want to announce it alongside a signing, we are supposedly in discussions over Thuram and Andersen.

Maybe next week they want to do a joint unveiling of Paratici, Fonseca + a new signing to take the sting out of it.
That sounds kind of nice.... too hopeful?

We aren't speaking to anyone else though. We've drawn up his contract and he is sorting out his staff. This is the man that Paratici wants.

It's fine to be fed up of bullshit stories in the media but this isn't a bullshit story, all the most reputable journalists are reporting this and have clearly been briefed by both sides of the deal. As things stand, he is on the verge of being our manager. That doesn't mean it will happen (see Nuno to Palace) but something would have to go very wrong at this point for him not to be managing us next season.
Unless you're Daniel Levy this is utterly unfounded nonsense you've picked up from social media.

OK, believe whatever you want. There are actually credible journalists reporting these things but if you don't believe in journalism then you'll just have to wait until the official unveiling.

I suppose you don't believe that Paratici is going to be our general manager either? Or that Aurier is about to join PSG?

Obviously if Fonseca is announced we should support him and wait to see how he performs. But why would you appoint a seemly mediocre manager with no PL experience presumably at some cost instead of falling back on Mason? If you can't get who you want (let's say Conte or Poch), surely give Mason a season instead of spending money of some guy who represents an even greater risk than Mason?

Wouldn't Mason need all his badges etc to be able to be an official Manager?

Fonseca will have little autonomy it seems. This is already starting in a bad way. So he will have to deal with levy and Paraciti. Work with the staff team that levy wants. Will have zero say in the transfers. Oh boy
Isn't this what fans wanted though? A manager who just focused on the on the pitch action? We wanted a DoF and now we have one.
