Crazy to think there were Spurs fans and podcasters saying stuff like “do we even want Bentancur at the club next season?”
Before they’d even heard from Sonny himself.
They are entitled to that in fairness.
Sonny couldn’t win with this but Bentancur could probably adjust his apology to other Koreans.
So they should sack him? What's your solution here?

TBH, Bentancur should man up and post a video of himself apologising. I thought that should have been done first thing after he got the backlash. A written apology is so insincere. Why doesn't he get it? Ffs.
Come on don't do this, he said something stupid, he fucked up and has now apologised which the captain has accepted.
Context matters, Bentancur is no racist, he's just an idiot who got caught saying something racist - there's a clear difference.

If Sonny wants to move on, surely the best thing to do is respect that?
Of course not. Son is just doing what is best for the team because he’s captain. What he said was collectively offensive and no one individual has the right to say if it was offensive or not.
We've started well by not doing what Lolerpool did with Suarez.
I just feel unjust for the club now being slammed by many Asian fans all because of a guy not smart enough to have done the right thing in a timely manner.

Regardless; like it or not, the potential offense is broader than Sonny...... And the club bears a large chunk of the flack so long as they opt to keep him employed.

Said that in my previous post before this. An apology video, not a written one, not especially he spelt Sonny wrongly. Good grief.
Anyway, I don't see anymore updates to this, but Korean/Asian fans will never forget, sadly. And we will definitely see more photos of hugs and embrace between Son and Bentancur in preseason social media posts.

He should have said something about any other Koreans feeling offended.
Offense is an individual thing though. There will be plenty of Koreans that are over it like Sonny is and at the end of the day he said it about Sonny specifically. He didn't literally say all Koreans look the same (even if that is implied), he said Sonny may as well be his cousin. It was a racist joke aimed at Sonny. Unacceptable and stupid but because it was aimed at Sonny, it's up to him to decide how he feels.
IMO if Sonny wants to move on, that's something that should be respected. Why make it even worse for him?
No one gives a fuck about Sonny when there is virtue to be signalled and drama and clicks to be had. Certain people love the smell of blood while pretending to care about racism.
It was a racist trope about Asian people in general..... Just cos it was deployed in reference to Sonny doesn't change that.
I don't suggest anyone wants to make it worse for Sonny; but it doesn't wash away just cos HMS & RB have had a hug.... Now maybe a % of Asian people will choose not to take offense, but that's the prerogative of the individual(s); not something that we, the club or RB can prescribe. Nor will it be something that 100% of Asians will not be offended by. The stain is on RB (& THFC by association)... He/they just have to accept it.
That’s what I was getting at with my post saying that the Koreans are still unhappy.
I get the feeling that the club/Sonny thought by putting out a statement that it would calm things down. It hasn’t and probably won’t ever do so.
