Match Spurs vs Fulham (a) 04.12.13

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah you never know how it would've played out but Roman Pavlyuchenko was a bloody awful replacement. Decent player but Berby was on another planet. Would've been lovely seeing Modric playing off Berbatov and Bale flying down the left wing. I'd welcome him back in Jan for a season or two as he's still quality and has alot of the attacking characteristics we're missing in abundance.

With Jan alongside King in central defence, just in front of Hugo.

With Walker flying down the right

Rafa playing just off Berbatov.

Sandro sweeping up behind Modric

You calling yourself a Spurs supporter is possibly the most hypocritical thing ever - you seem to have a mini mental breakdown after every victory

And you being related to Danny Blanchflower, and belittling his quotes about the beautiful game to defend the shit we are serving up now is fucking criminal.

Must really hurt you that he would agree with me on how the game should be played, and not you.

I've touched on this before and you'll likely ignore it but it took Fergie 3 or 4 seasons to build his team and get them performing at the level he wanted from them. Yeah that's right the greatest footy manager of all time took a good 3 or 4 seasons to get any sort of top quality consistency out of his manure team. Fergie didn't have to compete with Madrid pinching all his best players every summer and man shity and cheatski throwing money around and distorting the fuck out of the market either.
Fair point, 4th season they won the FA Cup. So you are willing to give AVB 4 years? I've lost faith already.

As long as we stay a top half team challenging for Europe then hell fuck yes. I think the bloke's got a bright future in the game and will only get better. He shows class in his interviews and seems a genuine nice person. If we hold onto our best players in a summer for a change and let him add to the team we might see some serious progress and have an actual tilt at the title. I like the fact the media hates him as they're all pretty much cunts and I don't read any of their shite anyway I get my football fix on here and watching actual matches I don't need their fiction. I could go on and write a bunch of stuff about why I'd keep him but I couldn't be arsed and you'd probably not give a feck either lol. Bottom line I doubt he'll get us relegated so I'd give him at least 4 seasons to show us what he can really do and try not selling our best players each summer. Don't say we need CL to keep our best players each year either as we signed them without it and other teams hold onto theirs without it, all we need to do is actually put our fuckn foot down for once like other teams everton, scousers, villa etc....

I agree. He hasn't given us anything to believe in. He didn't get the best record in the Pl we have ever had. he hasn't given us the best defense we've had in a long, long time. He hasn't convinced Daniel Levy to spend huge amounts of money. He hasn't gotten the team absolutely dominating possession.

There is a good NFL coaching teaching tactic that is similar to what AVB has done so far. Jeff Fischer, coach of the St. Louis Rams, was asked what the first thing he did when he started coaching there. His response was something like to perfect the last two minutes of the game, because if you can't finish a game there is no point in playing, you're going to lose. AVB has perfected our defense to withstand attacks. What is the point in scoring goals if you can't stop the other team from scoring. AVB started with the biggest fault in our play, our defense and fixed it. Our defense and midfield have been dominant. Our team owns 2/3 of the pitch. We have given him 14 some PL games and expect it all. From a winning perspective, you'd rather have the defense perfected before the offense. From a fun perspective, you'd rather have the offense perfected before the defense. AVB has set up the team to continue on to hold its own to by him time to perfect the final third.

I'm prepared to give AVB the same four years we gave Harry.

Nice one Sanchez! Its called foundation! We now have it and can build on it! And I,m convinced it will get us CL football next year!

COYS!!

This Tottenham side is one of the most robust, hardworking sides I,v seen in sometime! Solid and confident in that respect! When the finesse, subtlety element clicks, we will be a force to reckon with! Recent blips, fair enough, but short sharp shocks that we can learn from! Agree, we have to learn quickly, but what I saw against UTD/Fulham, for me at least, we look like a side that will play for 94-5 minutes regardless! That will always give us a chance!

I have no doubt, we will be there or there about's (top 3!!) come may!

Sunderland (A) 3 Points (27). Liverpool (Hm) 3 pts (30) WBA (Hm) 3 pts (33) Stoke Hm 3 pts (36)

We will go into the new year and to Old Trafford with maximum points in December! If so, we will not then let it slip. Not this time! We have a squad, not only full of talent (new additions settled) but full of character too!

I wish I was as optimistic as you fella

haha certainly looks like it

I mean, theres optimism and delusion.

I could (or maybe not me) but someone could start a thread and say "I LOVE AVB and think we will go on a record run and win the next 15 games in a row and challenge for the PL!!!"

And most people would click "agree" or "like", as opposed to saying why they think that will not happen.

:avbfacepalm:

Even jimmyriggle agrees that we are shit to watch......yet constantly argues against me. Baffling.

lol I doubt anyone would take a thread like that, started by you, seriously at all. God knows why though...

& yeah I don't get that... from what I've gathered your argument is with the style of football we're playing and how shit & boring it is these days, yet the majority of counter arguments talk about completely different parts of the game (my favourite is the "but we're only 3 points off 4th").

Exactly....my points are totally football based. Not once abused AVB, yet people who abused Harry and Parker, even when we were flying, and now abuse Defoe and Dawson, and Chadli, and Naughton, and Ade, and BAE want to preach about their positive vibes???

I get accused of hating Holtby? No, I just think he's a squad player, not a starter, and that we have better players.

Jimmy tends to say the play is shit but have faith it will get better once the squad get more time and settle

You say the play is shit and has been for a while and it doesn't look like it is going to get better not sure if AVB is the right man

That's it really from what I read from both of you, like everything two sides to one story, the lifeforce of a great forum

I am not anti AVB and agree ( when he gets it right ) he seems the real deal. Read my threads and I have whole hearterly supported him. But! ...As a manager who has never played top flight football, this has to effect players in accepting him in the dressing room when he's motivating them?

I agree he places a lot of time and effort onto details. But I'm not to sure now that he is capable in motivating the players to a level where they need to be at. You can have all the tatics in the world but players meed to belive in you. This Ficher guy has he played top flight. NFL? AVB hasn't this must be a factor when motivating players.
