Can anyone find the Konoplyanka story? :avbcringe:

Why would Kono be in Madrid to sign with Spurs? Would it not be more likely he is there to talk to a team in . . . let's say . . . Madrid?
The rumour mill starts grinding as Konoplyanka visits Madrid

The Ukranian player had been linked to Sevilla, but a deal was virtually ruled out by the club's sporting director Monchi. Atlético Madrid could now be in the driving seat.

Second on the left upper deck.

Would like this to happen if only to prove that Lyell Thomas' sources blatantly feed him misinformation.
Haha yeah ...
It's not like Kono would be a bad signing. His pace is something we really need, and for free, it's hard to turn down a skillful player like him.

The only concerns popping up here and there were those mentioned by Lyall. Lyall said that Poch and Mitchell don't want this player, but Baldini does. So if we do end up signing Kono, it either means Lyall was talking bollocks or that Baldini helped change Poch's mind.

The word (or rumor or theory) on the street is that Kono was in Madrid because our people were also in Madrid negotiating a deal for Alderwiereld. So to save time and all ...

That actually isn't that far-fetched, imo.
I don't want to believe that Levy is such a cheap bastard. Two rabbits with one shot.
"HI Kono, i want to talk to you about playing for the almight Spurs!"
"ok Mr Levy, i will fly to London and meet you"
"well i'm in Madrid so if you want to meet there, is cheaper. We will pay for the trip. But only ryanair tickets" :levywhoa:

If we get Kono and we still have links to Carrasco, I can see Andros and Lennon leaving this summer, meaning we may need a few more HG players in the squad, I presume this was the logic behind Berahino links, I still really would like Bamford but Chelski are pricks

Only seen him a handful of times. Mostly in the Champions League. Looked pretty good. Part of the Belgian generation. Has ridiculously good control and very skilful. Pretty much a Spurs type player with him being an entertainer.

Here is a video of his type of style if you've never seen him.

I think £16,000,000 would be worth it, considering the era of football we are in where the likes of £50,000,000 get you a David Luiz.

Looks an exciting player and prospect. If there was any truth in the interest and the Monaco comment then there's maybe business to be done at £12-13m.

If you'd watched this show-reel and Lamela's best before joining us you'd say he looks much better but, Lamela scores more goals so it would be down to opinions which to go for. Until that is Lamela is quoted at £30m and this guy £14-15m, then you'd be saying Erik who?

Could Levy still pull off signing Schneiderlin? Woolwich dropped out - they are signing Vidal. ManUre are stalling = because their first choice is Schweinsteiger. Southampton are ready to move for Clasie as a replacement.
If ManU take too long, or if they convince Schweinsteiger to sign, does that open the door for Levy & Poch to get their man?

According to French paper Le Parisien, Marseille's Gianelli Imbula would prefer to move to Southampton than Spurs.

Imbula is one of the hottest properties in Europa after a good season at Marseille and its rumoured that Spurs have already put in a £9.2 million bid for his services, but Le Parisien claim they are wasting their time as Imbula would prefer to move to Saints

Giannelli Imbula prefers a move to Southampton. The deal would consist of an initial €2m loan fee followed by an €18m obligatory buy-out clause at the end of the season” reports from RMC Sport claim.

Imbula was one of the top defensive midfielders in France last season and had an impressive 89.8% pass completion rate, if Saints could secure his services it would be a coup and even at 20 million euros that would still see Saints be able to use part of the fee for Morgan Schneiderlin and still have around £10 million to play with, so it would represent good business.

However Saints are not alone in their pursuit of Imbula, with Inter Milan also being heavily linked,

He's obviously keen to end up at Liverpool

Well that doesn't make any sense. Why would a player prefer Soton ahead of Spurs if he would be first choice at both?
Agreed. And if the links to Inter Milan are true, then we should also be able to beat them to him (considering we have European football).

Of all the ITK and reports about our interest in Imbula, the rumoured pursuit by Southampton is one of the biggest indications that he's the right guy to go for.

Saints have been a bit like a hydra recently: you cut off a head and three more take its place. Last summer, their squad was decimated and their manager poached, but they came out looking stronger.
If this guy is their first choice to replace Schneiderlin (and is about three years younger) then I hope we go aggressively for him.

Go on. Tell me who you'd realistically want to sign, who is BETTER than Walker in a position that isn't the most important on our team to fill?
That's not the point. You said signing a player inferior to Walker would be better business than signing a player superior to Walker. Please explain. Is this the definition of Spursey, or what.

If Liverpool get Clyne that is pretty damn impressive. They've done a lot of business very quick.

Not worried about our business yet particularly but it's clear that our rivals are strengthening. We need to have an effective summer window.

Because to sign someone superior to Walker we'd have to spend closer to £20,000,000 - this is not good business considering right back is not a position we need to go all out for and inevitably would be money wasted when we have three or four more positions that'd need prioritizing over it.

Signing Trippier for £4,000,000 or whatever it was is good business. We can stop playing centre halves out of position and we get someone who could quite well push Walker to his best in the same way Davies did with Rose.
