Positioning isn't the best. Reflexes aren't as good as Lloris' so we'd be downgrading in that department. As someone pointed out, not the quickest off his line when it comes to being a sweeper keeper with our high line.

He's a solid number two. That's about it.

He is a good shot stopper though. Which ultimately, is the last thing you look at when it comes to being a top level goalkeeper playing for a team wanting to compete with the best.

It was all going so well until this bit here. Wanting to compete with the best? Us?

Mon Dieu. C'est un cauchemar. C'est fini. Je pleure. Merde. Aimeriez-vous avoir une autre boisson?

Gazzaniga just isn't good to be a first team keeper for a top 4 club.

He was basically a third choice keeper for Southhampton for God sake!

If we don’t make top 4 we are fucked re: the transfer market if we are going to try and buy serious title challenging players.

We don't buy title challenging players. For how many years have we been in the CL and failed to buy really top players. The stadium is no excuse. The board will not sanction the wages and transfer fees that top players demand. Nothing will change unfortunately. We have to rely on whoever the manager is to get the best he can from the type of players with potential we normally end up signing.

So it really doesn't matter if we are in the EL or CL, in the top 4 or out of the top 4 when it comes to signings. It does matter if we want to retain our top players, but for new signings it will have no bearing

Realistically, at the top end the club will have £100m to spend pre any outgoings and that's being hugely generous based on the the pot potentially doubling from last summer & January. That's top end, but my belief is that it'll probably be around the £50m mark.

I think here is where our issue is. We could do with a new RB, CB, LB, DM, CM, AM & backup FWD and the expectations at the club based on its current ability in its playing staff has gone up a few notches since the days where we targeted the Fazio's, Davies' & Wanyama's of this world.

The fact our target quality has risen is great but this coincides with price inflation doubling and in some cases going up three fold. The club is in a very tight and tricky situation because Pochettino wants good quality along with good eggs and the amount of teams who can throw cash around has doubled due to teams exploiting FFP factors.

Leicester are being linked with £40m players these days, West Ham can spend nearly £40m on a player. It's gone berserk and whilst I still admire the clubs faith in its current team as it still has quality running through it, it desperately needed a break whereby it kept the majority of its players fit during a season of risk and it hasn't happened.

For me the biggest issue the club has faced isn't the lack of signings, it's the fact we've had the following players miss the following games:

Dier - missed nearly 20 games
Vertonghen - missed nearly 20 games through injury
Dele - missed nearly 20 games through injury
Sanchez - missed 10 games through injury
Aurier - missed 10 games through injury
Wanyama - missed over 20 games through injury

We've had a nightmare with injuries in the worst possibly season to get them with no investment in the squad. Ultimately the club would know that this kind of thing can happen but Dele has had 3 separate spells out injured for periods, Wanyama didn't recover after a year out last time, Dier ended up with more sicknesses than anyone since the plague, it's just been a crippling time for the club but ultimately they allowed themselves the prospect of a season whereby they looked over their shoulders.

At this stage just get top 4, be done with it all and hopefully he club can draw a line firmly under all the insane stuff that's happened this year. We needed a bit of luck in every department and not much has dropped our way.
